New Jersey is one of the most popular states in the US for online sports betting and gambling, and residents can now access one of the most popular operators in the country. Fanatics Betting and Gaming has now officially launched in the Garden State, making it the 20th state where it is active.
Huge Expansion
The move into New Jersey marks a significant milestone for Fanatics. Not only is it the 20th state where it is active, but it is now available to approximately 95% of all residents who live in licensed states in the US. The move follows its launch in Illinois last month.
Fanatics acquired PointsBet at the start of April for $225m, and New Jersey marks the last of the states where the switchover will take place. New Jersey residents with accounts on PointsBet will not need to make any changes, with all of their data being migrated to Fanatics instantly.
New Jersey will become the fourth state to host Fanatics online casino offering, which boasts a huge selection of online slots, table games, and live casino content. The casino is also available to residents of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
A Long Process
By going active in New Jersey, Fanatics completed acquiring and taking over all of PointsBets operations in the US. This process was started in June 2023, when Fanatics made the bid to acquire the company following a lengthy bidding war with leading operator and rival DraftKings.
Once the deal was approved, Fanatics started taking over all of PointsBets' operations, doing so in a way that ensured customers would not be negatively impacted by the change. This has taken the best part of a year and is now complete.
With the acquisition and continued expansion, Fanatics is hoping to establish itself as one of the major operators in the US, rivalling major companies like DraftKings and FanDuel, who are currently the two biggest sportsbook providers on the market.
