DC Launch
Residents in the US Capital of Washington DC will become the latest to have access to FanDuel’s leading sports-wagering platform. The Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG) for the District of Colombia has confirmed that the operator can launch in the region.
Multi-Platform Access
Residents in Washington DC will now have full access to FanDuel’s sports-betting app thanks to a subcontract with Intralot. The deal will allow residents to place sports bets using the FanDuel mobile app, website, and retail sports betting platforms.
FanDuel is one of the leading operators in the US, offering a huge selection of markets, as well as a plethora of bonuses and promotions for sports bettors to enjoy. The operator is expected to launch its app in the jurisdiction later in the spring.
Replacing GambetDC
Until this point, GambetDC had been the only regulated sports betting provider in the jurisdiction. The company will now be placed by FanDuel, with FanDuel kiosks already beginning to replace GambetDC’s in the city.
GambetDC launched in the district in May 2020, but has been met with criticism for providing poor odds and providing a glitchy betting experience. FanDuel, as a leading provider in the country, is expected to right these wrongs very quickly.
A Best-In-Class Experience
Residents of Washington DC are expecting a top-quality betting experience from FanDuel, and OLG Executive Director Frank Suarez believes they will bring it. Speaking about the announcement, Suarez described FanDuel’s platform as an industry-leading offering, saying that the company will deliver a best-in-class experience to all 18+ residents.
The district is set to benefit massively from this new deal. All revenue from sports betting contributes to a general fund, which is then used to help several local programmes. The Certified Business Enterprises (CBE) which helps local businesses, is expected to double in size, with increased contributions from sports wagers stimulating the growth.
