How to Play Evolution’s Dead or Alive: Saloon

How To Play

Dead or Alive: Saloon’s gameplay is fast and simple. The goal is to predict the playing card that the host will deal: you can bet on just one card, entire suits, or all of the cards. It’s easy to change your bet type from one round to the next.

The casino uses a deck of 104 cards containing 52 standard playing cards and 52 Bonus Cards (Bounty, Double, and Multiplier Cards). The dealer will shuffle the deck between rounds, then position it for the next draw.

However, you have a short betting stage before each round begins. This is your time to click on any of the cards in the grid displayed at the bottom of the screen. Once the betting stage ends, the dealer will take the card from the top of the deck and place it face up on the table.

If they reveal a playing card, prizes are awarded and the round ends. The next betting stage will begin.

But if the card dealt is a Bonus Card instead, the dealer will draw again until they turn up a playing card. Bonus Cards can increase the value of the prize pot (shown on the screen as cards are drawn) and lead to higher potential payouts.

The Bonus Cards work in the following ways:

  • Multiplier Cards carry values of 20x, 30x, or 100x. These will be added to the current win amount. For instance, a potential 10x win amount with a 20x Multiplier Card will become 30x.
  • Double Cards will double the potential win amount: a Double card would increase a 50x possible win to 100x.
  • Bounty Hunt Cards trigger the Bounty Hunt bonus round.

Dead or Alive: Saloon Bonus Games

The Bounty Hunt round is the only bonus game in Dead or Alive: Saloon. This presents players with three targets (represented by classic ‘wanted’ posters). Each one has a different multiplier bonus of 10x to 200x, but these are hidden from view initially.

Players pick one of the targets to reveal a multiplier. This will be added to the potential win amount. However, if a player fails to choose a target during the limited selection time, the game will make an automatic decision and choose a random target. The feature will end and the multiplier will be added to the amount up for grabs.

Languages, Hosts, and Presentation

Dead or Alive: Saloon is hosted in English by one dealer at a time. They stay seated at a traditional game table and wear clothes inspired by Wild West fashion to fit in with the saloon surrounding them.

When I tried the game, all the dealers had a friendly attitude, moved the game along quickly, and performed all actions (e.g. shuffling, dealing) clearly for players’ peace of mind.

The saloon setting looks fantastic: it is packed with plenty of fun details, such as the cowboy hat on the mantelpiece and the window offering a glimpse of a classic Western town beyond. Lively guitar music plays in the background and helps establish a relaxed atmosphere.

Dead or Alive: Saloon Payouts

The Return to Player for Dead or Alive: Saloon is 97.02%, and payouts are capped at £500,000.

The default prize for revealing a playing card right away is 20x. However, this can increase if Bonus Cards are dealt before a standard card is picked. If the dealer draws one Bonus Card after another, the prize pot can continue to get bigger and bigger.

Mobile Experience

Dead or Alive: Saloon is compatible with desktop and mobile, providing you with the flexibility to play on a computer, phone, or tablet. The game looks just as good on a small screen, though the number of cards shown during the betting stage can make selecting the right ones slightly more difficult on mobile.

Evolution’s Dead or Alive: Saloon Thoughts

Dead or Alive: Saloon is a fast-paced, simple live game that makes great use of the Western setting. Most players should find the gameplay easy enough to pick up quickly, and the rules explain how to get started in clear terms. The game moves so quickly that newcomers can watch a few rounds and get a feel for the flow before trying it for themselves.

One of the key parts of the game is the Bonus Cards: these add more depth and can make a big difference to the prizes available. If it simply revolved around guessing playing cards without Bonus Cards being added to the deck, Dead or Alive: Saloon may not be as impressive as it is. The Bounty Hunt bonus is a brief but well-designed feature, too.

This may not be the most innovative or revolutionary live game online, but it is definitely worth a look (especially for fans of the Wild West).
