How to Play Evolution’s Marble Race

Marble Race RTP

Marble Race is one of the more original Evolution live game shows, with a straightforward structure. It follows six coloured balls as they roll along a winding track, and the aim is to correctly predict which ball will cross the finish line first.

While the balls are referred to as “marbles”, they look closer to snooker balls than traditional marbles. There are no complicated rules to understand — just pick one or more of the balls before the race starts. You can wager on just one marble or pick a pair that you think could finish the race in first and second place.

Each marble has a specific colour: white, green, blue, yellow, red, and black. Before every race, you have 12 seconds of betting time to place your wager(s): simply click on the colour-coded spots at the bottom of the screen to make your bet. You can wager from £0.10 to £2,500 in each round.

All marbles are placed in a random starting position, and the race will start once the betting time ends. The marbles race along the track at fast speed, rounding a few bends before they pass through a few different obstacles.

When they reach the end, all six marbles land in a transparent cylinder to show their finishing order clearly (there is no room for confusion). The current round officially stops once at least two marbles have passed the finish line.

After the race is finished, the presenter announces the results. An automated system returns the marbles back to their starting positions, ready to race again.

Marble Race Bonus Games

Marble Race includes no bonus games — it focuses on the core racing action only.

Languages, Hosts, and Presentation

Marble Race’s presenters speak English, and do a fantastic job of creating an engaging experience. When not narrating the races in detail to help you follow along, they respond to players messages shown in the chat window.

Seasoned players may know that Evolution’s live game shows tend to be easy on the eye, and Marble Race is no exception. The studio is sleek and visually exciting, with colourful lighting and shiny metallic surfaces creating a futuristic look.

There is plenty of impressive attention to detail, from the illuminated arrows on the walls to the checkered flag pattern on the presenter’s microphone.

Crucially, the clever camera placement around the track provides a clear view of the marbles throughout each race. A close-up shot shows the marbles leaving their starting positions, then a camera pans slowly along the track to show the marbles’ progress as they race to the finish. This is crucial for transparency and player trust.

Marble Race Payouts

The theoretical optimal Return to Player (RTP) for Marble Race is 95.83%, which is based on the 1st Place bet. The RTP drops to 93.33% for the 1st and 2nd Place bet.

Mobile Experience

As with other Evolution live game shows, Marble Race is compatible with various mobile devices. The presentation is still dynamic and sharp on a phone or tablet, with a user-friendly layout that should be comfortable to use on most screens.

You can only play Marble Race on mobile in portrait mode, not landscape. However, critical details (e.g. the total bet, balance, and results) are all clear to see on a phone screen even in portrait.

Evolution’s Marble Race Final Thoughts

Marble Race may be a decent entry point for players who want to try live game shows without having to learn complicated rules first. The streamlined gameplay asks little of players: just pick one or two of the balls you think may win, then watch the brief race.

Each round moves quickly and smoothly, with only a short wait between races. The track design is visually exciting, with a few bends and multiple obstacles for the marbles to navigate towards the end of the race. The presenter during my playthrough was fun, engaging, and chatty, which can only help to keep players engaged.

However, the theoretical RTPs are quite a bit lower than you will find in some other live game shows, and the payouts are on the small side, too. The biggest prize available is 27:1, which is only awarded for correctly predicting which marbles come in first and second.

Ultimately, this is not for players who want the highest RTP and biggest payout potential — it is all about the gameplay itself.
