The Halloween coat of paint feels oddly fitting for a slot that already thrives on chaos. The gloomy swamp, the zombie fisherman, the awkward mix of humour and horror … it all comes together in a way that makes the game feel a bit lighter than its volatility might suggest.

I have seen the dual-trail setup before, though, and that familiarity cuts both ways. It is reliable, but it no longer surprises. The 1-in-113 bonus hit rate softens the grind, and the modifiers do their best to keep the round afloat, but you still rely on the fisherman showing up at the right moment.

I walked away thinking it is fun for a seasonal run, but it is not a game I would park myself in for months.

I settled on a six because Big Bass Halloween 3 does everything competently but leaves little to get excited about. The theme is fresh enough, the animations are neat, and the numbers are reasonable.

Yet, the base game is thin, the formula is well-worn, and the most interesting parts sit behind a bonus round that may or may not cooperate. The Halloween twist gives it personality, but underneath that, it is basically Big Bass running through a haunted house with a coat of fake blood.
