In today’s Carnival Queen 2 slot review, we will be headed to the New Orleans carnival. Created by Thunderkick, the game boasts a 25,000x stake top prize, plus bonus features including multipliers and free spins. Keep on reading to learn more.

Carnival Queen 2 has 6 reels with varying rows. It follows a Megaways structure, which has up to 117,649 ways to win, with the number of win ways for each spin starting at 5040 ways. Winning combos are made of 2-6 matching symbols landing across the reels, starting from reel 1.
As there are no traditional paylines, configuring your bet on Carnival Queen 2 is as simple as entering your bet and clicking spin. Accepted wagers range from 10p to £100, so nothing out of the ordinary here.
The game’s math model goes a bit downhill from here. The slot game has a very high volatility rating, in line with the current trends, but also has a brutal RTP of 94.18%. Yes, this raises very slightly to 94.31% when using the Feature Buy option, but as UK players cannot make use of this feature, it makes little difference.
As a 2025 release with no progressive jackpot, and in a crowded, fast-paced business, an RTP this low is tantamount to slot self-destruction. The original Carnival Queen game had a 96.1% RTP, and though the top prize was lower, at 22,700x, it was still impressive, so I am not sure how a moderate increase in top prize has resulted in a bottoming out of the RTP. Speaking of the top payout for Carnival Queen 2, it sits at 25,000x the total stake, impressive, but undermined by its math model.
There are lots of different online casinos where you can play Carnival Queen 2. Here is my pick of the best slot sites:

Thunderkick's Carnival Queen 2 slot returns players to the bustling streets of a midnight Mardi Gras party. Set against a backdrop of bright parades and festive music, the game has 3D graphics and a vivid Mardi Gras colour scheme (purple, yellow, green, gold), bringing the reels to life. The reels themselves are filled with masked figures, crowns, feathers, and heaps of ambience.
Regarding symbols, Crowns pay the most, followed by character symbols and A, K, Q, J, 10, & 9 card suits. The Avalanche Feature, integral to all Megaways slots, comes into play when winning combinations are achieved. These are removed, making room for fresh symbols which avalanche from above the reels. This can cause a chain reaction of wins and is why symbol payouts for games such as these are lower.
Speaking of payouts, the full paytable is as follows:

Nine
Pay 0.1-1.5x total stake

Ten
Pay 0.1-1.5x total stake

Jack
Pay 0.1-1.5x total stake

Queen
Pay 0.1-1.5x total stake

King
Pay 0.1-1.5x total stake

Ace
Pay 0.1-1.5x total stake

Red Revellers
Pay 0.4-3x the total stake

Purple Revellers
Pay 0.4-3x the total stake

Blue Revellers
Pay 0.4-3x the total stake

Green Revellers
Pay 0.4-3x the total stake

Crown Wild Symbol
Pays for 2 or more on a payline and awards 1-10x total stake.

Bonus Scatter
Looks like a reveller in classic green, whit, purple, and gold clothing, and can trigger the free spins bonus round.
As a 2025 release from a well-regarded developer, players can rest assured that the Carnival Queen 2 slot is fully up to date with the latest tech. This means players can game on the go on their preferred smartphone or tablet with no optimisation issues or need for additional downloads.

At first glance, it looks like Carnival Queen 2 is the party of the century, but UK players (and regions with similar regulations) will not be able to make use of the bonus buy feature(s), which limits the field to Exploding Wilds, multipliers, and a free spins bonus.
Wilds may replace any symbol except scatters to form winning combinations. When they do, they will explosively exit the reels, destroying all the symbols on their own reel and one random symbol on each of the other reels, unless they are prevented. The exploded reel becomes taller by 1 row when it explodes, extending the reels to up to 7 symbols high, thus increasing the number of winning ways. Do note, however, that there may only be two wilds on the reel at any time.
A common feature of Megaways games, Carnival Queen 2 starts with a 1x multiplier, each avalanche (cascade) adds +1 to the global multiplier (i.e, 3 cascades = 3x multiplier). During the base game, this multiplier will reset to 1x when a winning combination is not achieved. During free spins, however, the multiplier does not reset, and there is no limit to how high the multiplier can go.
When 3 or more scatter symbols land on the reels in any position, players will be granted 12 free spins; any extra scatter symbols will add 4 more free spins to the tally. The multiplier from the spin that started the free spins stays the same and does not reset. 2 scatters during the round give you +3 spins, and each additional scatter gives you +2 spins.

Is Carnival Queen 2 the best party in town? If you ask me, it is a resounding no. There is no denying that the game looks great and certainly captures the essence of Mardi Gras and other Latin American celebrations. The payout potential is not anything sensational, but it is enticing.
That is about as far as my compliments go. In my opinion, this slot has hit the proverbial post, offering plenty of tantalising elements such as its visual appeal and features like limitless multipliers, whilst having possibly the most unappealing math model I have recently seen. It does not matter how good all the bells and whistles are when you have the choice between an extremely high volatility slot with a 94.18% RTP and one with high volatility and a 96%+ RTP. Yes, the top prize of 25,000x is nice, but let’s be honest, players who see a number anywhere near this are few and far between.
In such a competitive market, there are a slew of other carnival-themed slots with similar features, but with better statistics, so I would suggest looking elsewhere. Overall, Carnival Queen 2 is nothing to write home about and certainly not FOMO-worthy. I rate it 4/10.
