Cleopatra's Fortune Slot Review

Cleopatra’s Fortune takes place in what looks like a pretty generic vision of an Egyptian tomb. This is a brick building with walls covered in hieroglyphics, in the middle of which we find the slot proper. The reels are dark brown and bordered in gold. A golden pharaoh’s mask sits on top, while the corners are decorated with eagle wing designs. It’s simple enough, but still manages to be fairly evocative overall. 

The reels hold 8 different paying symbols. The scarab, eagle, ankh, and eye are the high pays, while the familiar A, K, Q, and J make the low pays. The Cleopatra wild can substitute for all symbols except the special ones, of which there are 7. The Collect and Enhanced Collect symbols only appear on reel 2, and can collect the values of any coins that land on the other 2 reels. Coins come in either regular flavour, which hold a cash value, or Mini, Minor, Major, and Mega that hold bigger jackpot prizes. Land a Collect symbol together with a coin on both reels 1 and 3 for the Hold and Win feature.

Iron Dog Studio has put a couple of special features in Cleopatra’s Fortune. Collect symbols can indeed collect the values of any coins in view, but they can also trigger a Hold and Win feature. Let’s see what this involves. 

Collect Feature 

Land a Collect symbol on reel 2 together with a coin on reel 1 or 3 and the Collect symbol will, well, collect the value of that coin. Coins can hold cash values ranging from 1x to 15x. There are also special Mini, Minor, Manor, and Mega coins with prizes worth 25x, 50x, 150x, and 1,000x the stake respectively. 

We’ve already mentioned how there are two different Collect symbols. The regular Collect simply collects coin values, while the Enhanced Collect will either add a random multiplier to itself or anywhere on the reels, add a random jackpot value, or bring about a Coin Shower that can trigger the Hold and Win round. 

Hold and Win Round

Land a Collect on reel 2 together with at least 1 coin on both reels 1 and 3 for the Hold and Win feature. This has the triggering Collect symbol lock on the reel for a round of 3 respins during which only coins can land. Landing 1 or more coins resets the number of respins back to 3. More Collect symbols can land on reel 2 during this round, in which case they’ll also lock in place and collect the values of any coins landed. The round will continue until you run out of respins, which is when the values held by all Collect symbols are added up and the total awarded as a cash prize. 

Cleopatra’s Fortune brings something slightly different with its tall 4-row setup, even if at the end of the day it still plays more like a fruit machine than any modern video slot. The Collect and Hold and Win features do brighten up the action, mind, with wins reaching a decent 10,000x the slot. However the RTP is too low for our tastes, especially since it’s paired with a high volatility, which can lead to lots of losing spins before you even get a whiff of a winning combination.
