The Ancient Egyptian slot genre is jam-packed. Standing out in this genre is difficult with more Lara Croft and Indiana Jones-inspired explorers than the silver screen and more Horus, Osiris, and Anubis renditions than an Egyptian temple. It seems developers feel compelled to create these games simply to bulk out their roster. Crypt of the Dead feels like it exists for this reason. It is, however, better than other Ancient Egyptian slots, but sticks to the typical template in many regards.
Take the main character, the adventurer. He appears like Rich Wildes' brother or sibling to John Hunter, two of this slot genre's most famous characters, but he has no name or backstory, which might make the slot experience more immersive and intriguing. The game's symbols and images are familiar icons and generic playing card symbols that have been slightly altered to fit the theme.
