Playtech and partner studio Eyecon go cosmic in Crystal Lotuses, a cluster slot that’s all about glittering gem-like flowers (or are they flower-like gems?) floating on a starfield. This is actually the sequel to 2019’s Crystal Lotus, one that ups the ante with the addition of the currently fashionable prize pot mechanic. Continue reading our Crystal Lotuses review to learn everything you need to know about this slot.

While the original Crystal Lotus was a classic gem-themed video slot, Crystal Lotuses goes for the cluster slot format. This means wins are formed whenever 5 or more matching symbols land in vertically or horizontally adjacent positions on the 5x5 grid. The symbols making a winning cluster are removed from the grid, leading to a cascade with new symbols dropping to fill the empty spaces. If new winning clusters form after a cascade then the process repeats until there are no more new winning symbols in view.
The RTP of Crystal Lotuses is typically 96%, which is the average RTP of most slot games. However we say “typically” since operators can change this to lower values. You can confirm your version’s current RTP by checking its About page. The volatility is medium, leading to a fairly relaxed cluster slot experience. Betting starts from as low as £0.10 but Playtech does not specify if the game has an upper limit as far as wins or payouts go.
There are lots of different online casinos where you can play Crystal Lotuses. Here is my pick of the best slot sites:
We’ve already described Crystal Lotuses as cosmic, a term that should give you a good idea as to how it looks. The game is set on an animated starfield and is played using what are essentially geometric flowers in different colours. Six large glowing gems dominate the left-hand side of the screen, while chill electronic music plays as you spin.
The grid holds 6 different paying symbols, which are gem flowers in yellow, green, blue, purple, white, and red. There are also cash cluster symbols which hold cash values. These work just like the other paying symbols except their payouts are based on the total of their values. Then there are mysterious pot symbols. These can form wins with the cash clusters and will award you a random pot prize. We’ll tell you more about these symbols further on in this review, as we need to check the values of the regular paying symbols first.
Being a modern cluster slot Crystal Lotuses is fully compatible with all mobile devices - and you can play it right in your internet browser. This is thanks to HTML5, the technology that allows the development of games that can be played in any browser, regardless of device. It even adapts the visuals automatically to fit the size of your display, allowing you to play it anytime, anywhere.

A surprising aspect of Crystal Lotuses is its bonus features… or rather the lack of any. Well it does feature means to get potentially bigger payouts, which is what we’re going to explain next.
Cash clusters are special dark purple symbols that display a cash value. These form clusters like the other paying symbols, so by landing 5 or more in horizontally or vertically adjacent positions. In this case you’ll win the total sum of the values held by the symbols. There is another kind of symbol that can form a win with the Cash Clusters, and that’s the glowing Pot symbols. If one or more of these makes part of a win then you get a random pot prize as an additional payout.

The pot prizes can be found on the left-hand side of the screen. There are 6 of these, which are respectively worth 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x, and 500x the stake. You’ll note how their colours correspond to those of the paying symbols. As such, landing a winning cluster may randomly award you with a pot prize of the same colour as the symbols making it.

Crystal Lotuses looks great and plays fine, but still proved to be a bit of a disappointment. This is due to its bonus features, or specifically the lack of any. Sure there are the random prize pots and the cash clusters, but we were expecting this slot to at least feature a free spins round. Instead it’s just as straightforward as it gets, which might prove a boon for players who prefer a simpler cluster slot experience. The cascades are admittedly fun, and the medium volatility leads to a relaxing experience, but whether that’s enough depends on the kind of player you happen to be.
