S Gaming goes for a bold and cartoony look with Gold Blast Bonanza - a timeless style that always works well with the mining genre. There’s an animated old timey prospector on the right-hand side of the screen, plunger detonator at the ready in order to activate the dynamite symbols, while the reels are set in a wooden mine frame. Also note the dynamite next to the prospector, whose fuse starts fizzling as soon as you land dynamite symbols of the matching colour on the reels. 

As for the symbols on the reels, we’ve already mentioned the dynamite. These come in green, red, and blue, and are key for this slot’s bonus features. Then there are the 8 paying symbols, which are divided equally in high and low pays. On the high-paying side you will find the mining tools, namely the cart, sack, pickaxe, and lantern, while the familiar A, K, Q, and J card royals make the low pays. The prospector can appear on the reels as the wild. This can substitute for all symbols except the dynamites.

Gold Blast Bonanza is all about the dynamite, which can be triggered by landing dynamite symbols of the same character. There are three of these in total, so let’s take a closer look at each.  

Dynamite Features

As mentioned above, there are three different dynamites, green, red, and blue. Each one has a feature that can be activated by same colour dynamite symbols. 

• Green - get up to 7 Explosive Wild spins. 
• Red - Activates Gold N’ Win 
• Blue - awards up to 3 Dynamite Drop spins. 

Once you activate a feature you can pick one of the 3 plungers on the screen for a chance to boost it. Here’s what each feature involves: 

Explosive Wild Spins 

Explosive Wild Spins add a locked stacked wild on the middle reel. This can hold a random multiplier of up to 5x that will be applied to all wins it makes part of. If the round is boosted then the multiplier will be at least 2x and promises more wins. 

Gold N’ Win

The Gold N’ Win is a hold and spin-style feature where you get 3 respins with which to land dynamite symbols on the reels. There are single, triple, or bundle dynamite symbols, as well as upgrades that can boost a single stick to a triple. The boosted version of this round adds a dynamite-arsenal symbol. The round ends once you run out of respins, which is when all dynamite symbols reveal a cash value and the total will be awarded as a payout. 

Dynamite Drop 

The Dynamite Drop adds stacked wilds to the reels for a number of spins. If the round is boosted then the wilds get a random multiplier of up to 3x.

Gold Blast Bonanza is a scruffy slot with some interesting ideas hidden behind an unremarkable cartoony aesthetic. The three bonus features prove to be a lot of fun, and the way these are triggered is fairly novel, after all. However the variable RTP values do lead to docked points, as well as the unexciting low volatility gameplay and max win of just 1814x the stake. As such it makes for a pleasant enough entry in the mining genre, but brings little lese to the table.
