We’re off for a day at the races with reels set right in front of the track. A cheery leprechaun character stands on the right-hand side of the reels, while on top you’ll find 3 animated horses bucking for top position. Leprechaun Feature
On any random spin the Leprechaun may decide to trigger one of these modifiers:
- Add wilds to the reels.
- Add coloured coin symbols to the reels for a chance to trigger the Gold Trio round.
The Leprechaun is also active during the Gold Trio feature. During this he can randomly upgrade a cash prize coin on the reels to either a higher value or a mystery prize. He may also transform a coin into an active coloured coin.
Gold Trio Respins
Landing 1, 2, or 3 coloured coins may randomly trigger the Gold Trio feature. This is a hold and spin-style feature that starts with 5 coins landing in random positions on the reels. These lock in place before you get 3 respins with which to land as many more coins as possible. Landed coins lock in place and reset the number of respins back to 3. Coins can hold cash prizes or one of 3 prizes, namely Mini, Minor, or Major.
As well as the above prize coins coloured coins may also land on the reels during the Gold Trio round. Red coins multiply the values of all coins in view by 2x, green coins collect the values of all coins and award them to you as a payout, and blue coins expand the reels. The round continues until you either run out of respins or fill all reel positions with coins. If you manage to fill the reels you’ll win the Grand prize worth 1,000x the stake.

Leprechaun’s Luck Race might look like a novel addition to the Gold Trio series, but it fails to add too many new ideas for the formula. For some this might be a case of not breaking what’s fixed, but we’ll be first to admit that this does mean a slot that feels rather stale by this point. There are more than a few slots with a hold and spin-style bonus round, never mind one that adds modifiers into the mix. As such this is one for the hardcore fans of the series, or those who find the pairing of Irish and racing themes fun or amusing.
