Knight’s Life Slot Review

This probably won’t surprise anyone, but Knight’s Life is set in the mediaeval era and focuses on knights. Specifically, there are three knights, each with a different design. One wears basic chainmail, another wears basic armour, and the third is dressed in a full suit of armour.  

The game doesn’t show much of its world off, though. The background just features a castle wall with some steps and a hint of blue sky. There isn’t much in the way of audio either, with basic sound effects accompanying each spin. But the symbols pick up some of the slack, with impressive attention to detail and eye-catching colours. 

There are 13 symbols, including the Wild, Scatter, and standard symbols. Three of the standard symbols become Wild during the Free Games feature, though, which helps give you more chances to win. 

The top symbol is the Wild (featuring Merkur Gaming’s sun logo): land 5 to win just 1,000x your bet. The Wild also substitutes for all other symbols except the Scatter and doubles the value of any win it creates.

In Knight’s Life, you can play two bonus features: the Free Games round and the optional Gamble feature. The Free Games feature offers the chance to win lots of free spins with multiplied wins, and the Gamble round can boost any wins in the base game. 

Free Games Feature

Match 3, 4, or 5 Scatters to win 10, 15, or 30 free spins, respectively. You’ll get one free game for two Scatters. As of the sixth free spin, all wins are multiplied by two. From the 11th free spin, all wins are multiplied by 3. You can retrigger the Free Games feature if you land enough Scatters, too!

The three Knight symbols become Wild symbols during this feature. The Wild Knight alternates from spin to spin, and the current one is shown at the top of each reel. Wild Knights substitute for all symbols except the Scatter. 

Gamble Feature

The Gamble feature is available whenever you win in the base game. If you want to gamble your prize instead of collecting it, hit the ‘card’ or ‘ladder’ icon to start the associated round. 

The card game involves staking your prize on the colour of a playing card before it’s revealed. If you guess it correctly, you’ll double your initial win! Otherwise, you’ll lose it and go back to the base game. 

The ladder game requires you to tap the ‘1:1’ button to go up or down a prize ladder (the outcome is random). This can lead to bigger wins.

Knight’s Life is deeper than you might expect when you first see it. Yes, the graphics are simple and the wins are low at up to 1,000x your bet, but the bonus features give you more to discover. Trigger the Free Games round to get up to 30 free spins with Wild Knight symbols and increasing wins. You can retrigger it, too, to keep the free plays coming!

It’s a shame that Knight’s Life has high volatility and largely low prizes, though, and the RTP is average at 96.03%. But the bonus features raise this above some of the more basic slots in Merkur Gaming’s catalogue.
