Hold and Win Bonus

You can trigger the hold and win feature in 2 ways - landing 6 coins or igniting all firecrackers found on the gong in the left-hand corner of the screen. Firecrackers ignite randomly by landing coins as you play. The hold and win round plays in the traditional way, meaning it consists of 3 respins with which to land coins on the game grid. Landing a coin resets the number of respins back to 3, so the round ends once you either run out of respins or fill the entire game grid with coins. 

Coins can hold cash values worth anything from 3 to 88 coins, as well as Mini, Minor, Maxi, or Major jackpots or a Money Gong bonus. In addition, after each spin the gong may award you with either a Prize Boost, Multiplier, or Vortex Pays modifier or place a Money Gong symbol on the reels. The PRize Boost increases the value of 1 coin on the reels, Vortex Pays adds 8 to 40 coins in value to one of the coins on the grid by up to 5 times, and the multiplier places a multiplier of up to 8x on one or more coins.

The Money Gong bonus is played after the hold and win round if unlocked. This plays just like the hold and win feature only with higher value coins as well as the Mini, Minor, Maxi, and Major jackpots. Fill all the reel positions for a special Money Gong prize. 

Free Spins

Landing the 3 scatters on reels 2, 3, and 4 awards you with a round of 6, 12, or 18 free spins. During each spin the gong may add up to 9 wilds on the reels. Wilds cannot be placed on reel 1 or on positions holding a coin, wild, or high-paying empress. You can trigger the hold and win feature during the free spins, in which case this will be played once the free spins are over.

Money Gong Empress is a fairly decent entry in a long line of hold and win slots. As such there’s nothing too mind blowing here, but it all plays well enough thanks to medium volatility allowing for a regular decent of small wins. However the RTP remains low at 94%, and while wins promise to reach up to 10,000x the stake we haven’t seen anything even close to such a sum during our testing. As a result we can only truly recommend this to fans of the Money Gong series, if not anyone who’s a fiend for the Asian genre of slot.
