Poseidon Hyper Frames Slot Review

As one might expect from the Greek god in the title Poseidon Hyper Frames is indeed set under the water. Here we find a Greek temple in the background, not to mention the reels set between a pair of marble columns. The animated form of Poseidon, trident in hand, can be seen on the right-hand side of the reels, which are separated by a stream of bubbles. It’s nothing too revolutionary but it does look very pleasant all the same. 

The blue reels hold 10 paying symbols. The crown, helmet, swords, seashell, and column are the high pays, while the A, K, Q, J, and 10 card royals make the low pays. The trident wild appears on reels 1, 2, 4, and 5 and can substitute for all paying symbols. The game’s bonus symbol is the pearl, which can hit on all reels. When landed this can transform into either a coloured pearl or a coin. We’ll detail further what the deal with the pearls is later on in this review.

Poseidon Hyper Frames’ bonus feature is right in the title. This is based around the pearl symbols which when landed are collected in the four prize pots found on top of the reels. 

Hyper Frames Bonus 

White pearls transform into either coloured pearls or golden coins when landed. Green, red, and blue pearls are in turn collected in the same colour shell on top of the reels, while coins go in the treasure chest. This collection feature can randomly activated the Hyper Frames Bonus, with the combination of triggering coloured pearls and coins determining the awarded feature. Coloured pearls may award different bonus boosters, while coins award one of four Super Bonus features. 

Hyper Frames

The Hyper Frames Bonus is a hold and spin-style round played with 6 spins. During this the reels only hold pearls, +1 Spin, or blank spaces. Whenever a pearl lands on the reels it will either leave a frame on its position or upgrade the current frame. There are 5 frames - stone, bronze, silver, gold, and magic. Frames start from stone, and can be upgraded to bronze, silver, and so on. Landing a +1 Spin adds one more spin to the round. Once the Hyper Frames Bonus round is over the frames turn into shields that reveal cash prizes or jackpots. 

The size of the prizes depends on the type of frame. Gold frames may hold a Mini or Minor Jackpot, while Magic frames hold Mini (10x bet), Minor (25x), Major (200x), or Mega (5,000x) jackpot. The total payout is awarded once the Hyper Frames Bonus round is over. 

Bonus Boosters

When triggered with pearls the Hyper Frames Bonus gets 1 Bonus Booster based on the colour of the triggering pearl. This booster is activated by, once again, landing pearls of the same colour. These are as follows: 

• Green Booster - multiplies random frame prizes by 2-10x
• Blue Booster - upgrades up to 10 random frames to the next value tier
• Red Booster - collects the values of up to 10 revealed frames. These frames then get new prizes for the same tier 

Super Bonus

If the Hyper Frames Bonus is triggered with a coin then you get one of 4 different Super Bonus rounds through a spin of the wheel. These are as follows: 

• Super Gold Bonus - all pearls add a gold frame to the reels
• Super Spinz - the round starts with 12 spins
• Super Stackz - pearls land as stacks
• Super Symbol - colossal pearls 2x2 or 3x3 in size may appear. When landed these split into multiple small pearls on the covered reel positions 

Poseidon Feature 

Any random regular spin may trigger the Poseidon Feature. This is the Hyper Frames Bonus with either a random combination of boosters and/or a Super Bonus feature. 

Snowborn Games brings a perhaps convoluted take on the familiar hold and spin round as it combines prize pots with frames and boosters. The result did leave us a little bit confused at first, even if one can soon figure out what this is all about once they actually manage to trigger the feature. Beyond that Poseidon Hyper Frames is a decent enough slot with decent win potential and a fair 96% RTP, if one that still fails to be distinctive enough in a currently overcrowded casino game arena.
