Sanatorium Secrets’ bonus features open the game up and offer extra chances to grab prizes. You can trigger two types of free spins features, and multiplier Wilds may boost your payouts.

Wild Symbol

The Sanatorium Secrets slot features three Wild symbols. Each one substitutes for all non-Scatter symbols.

• 1x4 Wild: Appears on reels 2 to 5. It can randomly carry a multiplier of 4x or 8x, which applies to all winning combinations it helps to create. Multipliers can be added together.
• 2x4 Wild: Appears on reels 3 and 4 only. It can randomly carry a multiplier of 8x, 16x, 32x, or 64x.
• 1x1 Wild: Appears on reels 2 to 5. It can only appear after a Hook symbol converts a high-paying symbol.

Hook Symbol

The Hook symbol can land on reels 1 and 6. Whenever it lands, the Hook grabs each high-paying symbol on the same row. The Hook then transforms into one or more matching high-paying symbols. Those high-paying symbols also turn into 1x1 Wild symbols. 

If the Hook passes over another Wild symbol, it doubles the Wild’s multiplier. 

Free Spins Feature

Match three or more Scatters to unlock the Free Spins feature. If you land three Scatters and one Super Scatter, the Super Free Spins feature launches instead. But before the bonus round starts, the Puzzle feature plays out first.

During the Puzzle feature, high-paying symbols can become Wild symbols when their reels are completed vertically with puzzle pieces. It awards three respins, but an extra win is awarded when a puzzle piece lands. 

The Puzzle feature has an increasing multiplier, which boosts the minimum multiplier for 1x4 Wilds. The Puzzle round ends when you run out of respins or fill reels 2 to 5 with puzzle pieces.

When the Free Spins or Super Free Spins feature begins, you have six free spins and two extra for each Scatter beyond the three required. An additional spin is also awarded for each puzzle piece that lands in the Puzzle feature.

Sanatorium Secrets is an atmospheric slot that looks fantastic, offers a generous top prize, and can potentially pay out regularly. It doesn’t have the biggest range of bonuses you’ll ever see in a slot game, but they bring you extra chances to win and add variety.

As far as I’m concerned, the only real downside is the small symbol values. The multiplier Wilds can lead to bigger payouts, but without them, most wins are likely to be small. Otherwise, this is a strong release that should suit both new and seasoned slot players.
