Our true complaint, visual wise, really is how nearly half the screen is taken over by the 3 targets on the left-hand side, leading the actual reels to look rather small and cramped even on bigger displays.
The Wanted poster-style reels hold 7 different paying symbols. Of these the cards, bottle of booze, and cactus are the high pays, while the A, K, Q, and J card royals take the low-paying role. The rose tattoo wild can substitute for all of these paying symbols in order to form more winning combinations. The last 3 symbols on the reels are the revolvers, which come in red, green, or blue. These are the game’s bonus symbols that can activate the feature of the same colour.

If a target symbol lands inside a crosshair then its value is collected before it is removed from the reels. This leads to any target symbols on top to drop, in which case it will also be shot and the process repeats.
- Green Target: Take Your Shot. All symbols on the reels are replaced by 15 shuffled targets. You select one of these to reveal a random cash prize of up to 45x the stake or one of the 3 jackpot prizes, Minor, Major, or Mega.
- Red Target: Wild Roses. 5 free spins with stacked wild rose symbols added to random reels on each spin.
Sundown Shootout Final Thoughts
While Sundown Shootout promises an exciting time in the Wild West, the final result is, ultimately, rather sedate. This is due to its low volatility, which leads to fairly regular but smaller wins that can reach up to 532x the stake. The bonus feature did trigger a couple of times during our testing, but they feature nothing to write home about other than the fact that they can lead to fairly decent payouts. These aren’t factors that make Sundown Shootout a bad game but they do lead to a mediocre overall experience.
