Collect Feature

Reel 1 and 6 hold the collect symbol, the skeleton pirate. This indeed collects the values of any cash symbols that land on the reels, and expands to fill the reel while doing so. In addition, landing a collect moves you by a step on the feature trail found on top of the reels. The trail holds features that can be triggered by landing the collect symbols. The features are unlocked in this order: 

• Collect - the standard collect active as soon as you start playing the slot. 
• Add Collect - adds more cash symbols to the reels before collecting all prizes in view. 
• Treasure Wheel - spin the treasure wheel to move up the ladder. Landing on “Stop” ends the wheel and awards you with the total reached on the ladder. 
• Rush Collect - all cash prize and collect symbols in view lock in place before a set of ghost reels spin. If a ghost cash prize lands on a locked cash prize then the two prize values merge together. If a ghost prize lands on a non-prize reel position then it turns that symbol into a cash prize. 
• Golden One Eyed Willy - the golden One Eyed Willy symbol boosts the values of any cash symbols in view. 
• Boost Collect - a reel spins to stop on a cash value up to 5x the bet. This value will be added to one or more cash symbols on the reels. 
• Walking Collect - after the initial cash prizes in view are collected the Walking Collect returns to the single reel symbol and steps down by one reel position before reverting into an expanded collect. All other reels respin to potentially lead to more cash symbols landing. This process repeats until the final Walking Collect leaves the reels. 
• Chest of Riches - chests are upgraded to have 4 keys, with each key upgrading the corresponding coloured chest.

One Eyed Willy Treasure Chests

You’ll notice the chests in green, red, and blue. These are the game’s scatters, which are collected by the chests of the matching colour on the left-hand side of the screen. This can randomly award you with a round of free spins complete with a treasure chest upgrade. These are as follows: 

• Red chest - increases the height of the collect symbols to 4 rows high for the duration of the bonus round. 
• Blue chest - adds 50 more mystery symbols to the reels.

Treasure Spins

Landing 3 or more scatters awards you with a round of 10 free spins with any unlocked features active and a collect symbol accumulation mechanic. This adds 5 more spins for every 3 collect symbols accumulated, up to a maximum of 12 collect symbols. The accumulation also adds a multiplier that starts at 2x and can reach up to 10x.

Can a slot have too many bonus features? Because that might be the case in The Goonies Quest for Treasure 3. At times keeping track of all the modifiers and upgrades you have active at any time feels like work, and that’s when the slot stops being fun. There’s also the case that this third Quest for Treasure slot feels a bit too similar to the second slot, which was more than a little reminiscent of the first, and so on. These Goonies slots remain quite fun, but Blueprint needs to shake up the formula - both visually and mechanically - if it wants us to retain interest in this series.
