The Great Eggscape has a surprisingly elaborate take on the typical free spins round. Let’s see what it involves. 

The Great Eggscape Bonus Round

Landing the 2 collector symbols on the same spin triggers the bonus features. This is a round of free spins with a difference, as it adds a multiplier trail on top of the reels. This tracks the positions of each collector as the farmer chases the rooster. Landing one or both of these symbols moves them by one position on the track. Thus you technically have infinite free spins, as the round goes on until the farmer manages to catch the rooster, with their respective multipliers growing by whenever they land on  the +x1 square. This multiplier is applied to any cash values they collect during the feature. 

Once the bonus feature ends, you get a little animation where the farmer tries to catch the rooster. This can randomly end with the rooster escaping, in which case you get another chance at the round with the rooster advancing by one position on the trail. 

Pick Me Feature 

You’ll notice how any eggs landed are collected by the chicken on top of the reels. This can randomly trigger the Pick Me round. Here you get a grid of 9 eggs, of which you pick one. Eggs can hold cash prizes of the Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand variety, as well as the bonus round in Super or Mega variants. 

Spin Chance

If your remaining credit is less than your current bet yet greater than zero you get an automatic Spin Chance. This is a spin where you wager your remaining credit for a win at the current bet. If the pointer lands on the green segment then you win your spin at the current bet, but if it lands on the red segment then you lose the remaining credit and return to the regular reels. The size of the red and green segments is proportional to the amount of credit in relation to the current bet.

We’ll admit that our first impressions of The Great Eggscape weren’t too favourable. The graphics are a bit crude, the music quickly gets annoying, the RTP is low at just 94.5% (if not lower!), and the gameplay boils down to simplistic 10-payline action. However the game does reveal its depths during the bonus feature, which is a surprisingly elaborate combination of chase and multiplier trail mechanics. So well played there, Inspired Gaming, guess it’s truly a case that one shouldn’t judge a slot by its cover.
