We’ve already described Tombstone Begins as relatively conservative - again, when compared to other Nolimit City slots - and the same goes for the visuals. The symbols on the reels might be speckled with blood, but that’s nothing compared to the hanging corpses of Tombstone RIP or even the grim bullet-ridden Wanted posters of the original Tombstone. In fact the result is oddly toned down, even if excellent Western-style music truly enhances the experience.
There are 10 paying symbols - the high-paying gold bars, money satchel, dynamite, pistol, and knife, and the A, K, Q, J, and 10 low pays. The wild can, of course, substitute for all of these to form more paying symbols. The explosive cow skull is the scatter that can award you a round of free spins if you land 3 or more. Winning symbols lock on the reels in Tombstone Begins. This leads to a respin that adds a chance for more winning symbols or a new payline landing, as well as wilds, scatters, or revolvers. If this happens then the process repeats until no more new symbols land on the reels.
Revolvers
Revolvers can land on any reel and contain 3-6 bullets. Once it hits the revolver fires 1 bullet per spin. The bullets target either paying symbols or wilds, depending on the type. If multiple revolvers land on the same spin then they fire one by one, starting from the left and right and top to bottom. Bullets can trigger one of the following features:
- Wild - turns a random symbol into a wild.
- xSplit - doubles the multiplier value of a paying symbol or wild.
- Upgrade - upgrades a target symbol and all its other instances to a higher-paying symbol.
- xNudge Wild - hits the top row of reels 2, 3, or 4 at random to bring an xNudge Wild that moves to fill the reel. Each nudge increases its win multiplier by +1.
- xNudge Multiplier - further boosts the multiplier of the xNudge wild by 2x, 3x, 10x, or 100x.
- Random - randomly changes into a different bullet.
There are 2 special symbols that affect any revolvers in view if landed. The Unleash has all revolvers immediately fire all bullets one after the other, while the Refill refills all revolvers to 6 bullets. Only one of these symbols can hit at a time.

While it is indeed toned down compared to the extremes of the previous Tombstone games (never mind other Nolimit City slots!) Tombstone Begins still manages to impress. In a way its bonus features are less overwhelming, with the pairing of respins and revolvers leading to exciting spins that are easy to read and figure out. The Western theme might be a bit overdone but a decent 96.02% RTP and wins of up to 20,000x the stake make Tombstone Begins a slot that should prove exciting for most, if not all, players.
