Top Cat Slot Review

The Top Cat cartoon is famous for its bold style, and Blueprint adapts it to a tee in this slot adaptation. We find ourselves in the Manhattan back alley Top Cat and crew call home, and all the cats are present and accounted for on the reels. Then there is the audio which, of course, comes straight from the show. 

The cats are the game’s high-paying symbols, with Top Cat himself being the highest paying. He can even appear in “super stacked” form on the reels, so look out for him. Following him are the other cats, namely Brain, Choo-Choo, Fancy, and Spook. The A, K, Q, and J card royals are the low pays. The fishbone symbol is the wild, which can substitute for all symbols except the scatter. This is the symbol that features all the cats found on reels 1, 3, and 5. Land all 3 on the same spin for one of this slot’s 5 bonus features.

Blueprint tends to excel as far as bonus features go, and Top Cat is no exception here. Any random spin might see Top Cat pop up from the trash can to award you with a random feature, while landing the 3 scatters will award you with one of 5 bonus features. Then there’s the hot dog found on reel 5! Let’s see what all of these involve. 

Call or Nothing 

Top Cat may pop up from his trash can on any random spin. He will have a chat with one of his gang members to award you one of the following modifiers: 

• Choo’s Piano Wilds - Choo walks up to the centre of the reels before Brain drops a piano on his head. This causes stars to float from his head that transform random symbols into wilds. 
• Brain’s Water Wilds - Brain appears with a fire hydrant next to each reel. Each hydrant fires water on the reels, potentially turning any or all of the reels wild. 
• Spook’s Mice as Nice - Top Cat blows his whistle, summoning mice on the reels. These mice will rearrange the symbols to create a winning combination. Top Cat  may blow his whistle again to bring you another win. This can continue until Officer Dibble appears to stop Top Cat. 
• Benny’s Colossal TVs - Benny presses a button on his remote, causing a Colossal TV to appear. This adds a number of TVs on the reels. The TVs are mystery symbols that will transform into the same symbol once Benny presses his remote again. 

Fancy Fancy’s Hot Dog 

Reel 5 holds a special stacked hot dog symbol. If this lands in full then you’ll get a respin with the hot dog locked on the reels as a stacked wild. This hot dog wild moves by one reel towards the left on each spin until it reaches the leftmost reel, which is when the vendor will snatch it away to bring this feature to a close. 

Bonus Rounds

Land the 3 scatters found on reels 1, 3 and 5 for the bonus rounds. You first get the Pick A Plan cutscene, which is where you choose your bonus round. These are as follows: 

• Cash Picker - Pick the bins to reveal multipliers. This continues until Dibble is revealed, which is when the multipliers are added up and the total applied to your bet. 
• Maharaja Heist - A 2-stage feature that starts with your chosen character making his way to the hotel, increasing the total bet multiplier as he does. If you reach the “Big Money” end game then stage 2 starts. Here you make your way on the game board, collecting more multipliers until you reach Dibble. 
• Construction Site - A round of free spins on multiple sets of reels. The aim is to collect Top Cat stickers and advance to the next reel set. The higher the reels, the more wilds they hold. 
• Diner Free Spins - A round of free spins with the amount based on the special symbol landed on reel 5. 
• Dibble Free Spins - A round of free spins with a special wild active on all 5 reels. When landed this wild will roam around the reels on each spin. If 2 special wilds collide they will expand to fill the entire reel. 

Where available Top Cat includes the Jackpot King feature. This is the Blueprint progressive jackpot network with 3 prizes on offer, Royal, Regal, and Jackpot King. Triggering the Jackpot King requires you to land 5 crown symbols on the reels. The round opens with the crown collecting feature. Get 15 crowns for a spin of the wheel, which is where you can win a cash prize or one of the 3 jackpots on offer. 

Top Cat is as feature-rich as Blueprint slots can get, with a myriad of bonus rounds to experience on any spin. If anything this can get a bit overwhelming at times, as it’s difficult to keep track which feature does what! Then again that’s the kind of setup that’s perfect for a property as whacky as Top Cat, making for one truly fun slot.
