Tropicool 5 builds on the excellent visuals seen in previous Tropicool games and adds a new character while it's at it. The toucan and flamingo protagonist return as the game’s wilds, while Elmo the sloth returns on a hoverboard to drop pearls on the reels. Then there’s Kyle the Mystery Crocodile, who’s this entry’s new character. He can appear on the top Cool Reel and can drop mystery symbols if there are any empty reel positions beneath him.
There is a whole bevy of special symbols found on the Cool Reel, and we’ll detail them further on in this review. The paying symbols are fruits, consisting of strawberry, pineapple, lime, melon, and grapes high pays and the low-paying yellow, green, pink, and blue berries. Paying symbols can land in big 2x2 form that count as 4 regular symbols, potentially leading to even more wins.

- Mystery Symbols: transform into paying or feature symbols after all wins are resolved.

- Row Swap: selects 1 random symbol in its row with which to replace all other symbols on the same row.

Character Features
The Tropicool 5 cast brings its unique modifiers to the reels!
- Wild Egg: this is a sticky wild that can expand into a Wild Bird if there is space in its reel. The size of the Wild Bird can range from 1x2 to 1x5 depending on the space available. These are removed from the reels once they make part of a win.
- Elmo Drop: Elmo collects pearls that drop from the Cool Reel. He can then randomly drop these to clear the top rows, leading to the entire Cool Reel to drop in the empty space.
- Mystery Crocodile: Kyle the Mystery Crocodile is a special 6x2 symbol that can slide on the Cool Reel. He drops mystery symbols on the reels whenever there is space beneath him.
Free Spins

Tropicool represents the best - and excesses - of ELK Studios’ approach to slot design. It’s big, bright, and stuffed with so many features you might end up losing track of all of them. That said one can’t deny the excitement the combination of cascades and Cool Reel can bring, as this can lead to some seemingly never ending spins! Add the oddball characters and you have a winner that’s only marred by its variable RTP values.
