Twin Buffalo Hold and Win Slot Review

By this point we all know what slots themed around North American wildlife look like, and Twin Buffalo Hold and Win is no exception to the rule. We’re somewhere in the Grand Canyon, a dusty landscape marked by spectacular rock formations. The sun is setting as the wind blows and guitar music plays, lending all a very Wild West feel. It’s nothing too new but it looks decent all the same.  

The symbols on the reels are likewise typical of this genre of slot. You’ll find the high-paying buffalo, eagle, cougar, and wolf, as well as the A, K, Q, and J low pays. The canyon wild can substitute for all paying symbols, as well as land in stacks up to 3 rows tall. Then there are the special symbols, of which there are the coins, scatters, and Collect. We’ll tell you all about this later on in this review. 

Before we mosey on let’s see the values of the paying symbols:

The “twin” part of the Twin Buffalo Hold and Win title refers to the dual bonus features found in this game, hold and win and free spins. But that’s not all, as there is a third feature to uncover. Let’s take a closer look at all of these. 

Coin Collection 

As you spin the reels you’ll notice the gold coins landing on reels 1-4. Then there is the Collect symbol found on reel 5. Land the Collect together with any number of coins and it will collect their values, awarding you the total as an additional payout.

Hold and Win 

You can trigger the hold and win round in two ways - either landing 5 or more coins or randomly as coins are collected in the Buffalo Bounty pot found on the left-hand side of the screen. Whichever way it’s triggered this consists of 3 respins with which to land as many coins on the reels as possible. 

Coins lock in place for the duration, and landing at least 1 coin resets the number of respins back to 3. Coins hold values ranging from 1x to 250x the stake. The round ends once you either run out of respins or fill the reels with coins. Filling all 15 reel positions awards you with the Grand prize, which is worth 5,000x the stake.

Free Spins

Like the hold and win round the free spins can be triggered in two ways - landing 3 or more scatters or randomly as landed scatters are collected by the Buffalo Spins pot on the right-hand side of the screen. The free spins combine reels 2-4 into a single reel holding jumbo symbols 3x3 in size. Landing a jumbo scatter in full awards you with 3 more spins, while landing a jumbo coin triggers the hold and win round as this counts for 9 individual coins. 

Twin Buffalo Hold and Win is the very definition of a decent slot. It looks nice, plays well, and has two bonus rounds, but alas fails to truly excite. The North American wildlife theme is overdone, after all, while the 5,100x win cap fails to excite when paired with the 95.6% RTP. Considering the many alternatives available for buffalo-based slots, never mind those complete with a hold and win round, and it gets hard to truly recommend this one, as decent as it actually is.
