CopyBet Joins The Betting And Gaming Council

An Important Role

Online betting operator CopyBet has joined the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC). The move reinforces the brand’s commitment to safer gambling and maintaining integrity within the UK’s regulated betting market. The operator joins 90% of the UK gambling industry, which is represented by the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC).

The BGC works to raise standards across the gambling sector. The overwhelming uptake in membership proves that the BGC is a key trade body and highlights the important role it plays within the industry. As a member, CopyBet must, from now on, comply with the organisation’s Code of Conduct.

The BGC Code of Conduct requires members to agree to enforceable commitments, commit to an ongoing culture of improvement, and meet additional criteria.

The enforceable commitments include contribution of at least 0.1% of Gross Gambling Yield (GGY) to support the National Responsible Gambling Strategy, compliance with the Industry Group on Responsible Gambling (IGRG) Code for Social Responsible Advertising, application of BGC guidance, requirement to offer self-exclusion schemes, and participation in the Safer Gambling Week. Members must also use age-gate technology across all channels, commit to the BGC code for digital marketing, and adopt the GAMCARE Safer Gambling Standard.

The BGC is incredibly thorough, as it involves further commitments related to continuous improvement, governance, and additional criteria. Online operators become members of the BGC because it is an emblem of responsible gambling. As members, operators can promote an alignment with industry-wide efforts to promote transparency, ethical marketing, and social responsibility.

In addition to joining the BGC, CopyBet has become a member of the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), further highlighting its commitment to responsible gambling and player care.

A Culture of Safer Betting

Anton Ivanov, UK Business Development Director for CopyBet, said that the company was pleased to have joined the Betting and Gaming Council. He added that CopyBet looked forward to working alongside other members to raise industry standards and help foster a culture of safer betting.

The BGC CEO, Grainne Hurst, welcomed the addition of CopyBet to the council. She expressed enthusiasm about the growing diversity within the BGC membership. She stated that the council looks forward to collaborating with CopyBet and other members to improve standards across the gambling sector.

Increased UK Visibility

Other recent steps by the peer-based gambling platform suggest a broader strategy to enhance its profile in the UK. The company is currently the official betting partner of Queens Park Rangers and also a front-of-shirt sponsor.

As regulatory scrutiny continues to intensify in the UK, joining reputable bodies like the BGC and IBIA may prove essential for operators going forward. Association with such bodies will help operators as they strive to maintain a strong position in the competitive and heavily regulated UK gambling sector.

CopyBet is attempting to position itself as an innovator in the peer-to-peer betting space, but also as a responsible operator committed to customer protection.
