Giving Back
Flutter Entertainment, the operator in charge of major sports betting brands including Betfair, Fanduel, and Paddy Power, has pledged £200,000 to help grassroots sports in England and Ireland as it relaunches its popular Cash4Clubs initiative.
Flutter Entertainment is a believer in giving back, and the company has relaunched its successful Cash4Club initiative with the hope of helping clubs that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent cost-of-living crisis.
The company has committed to giving £200,000 in funding, which will provide grants of up to £2,000 per club that is a part of the initiative. This funding can be used in a multitude of ways, including providing improved facilities, helping buy equipment, or supporting coaching and training programs.
Positive Impact
The program has made a hugely positive impact on communities and grassroots sports programs in recent years. In 2022, Cash4Clubs awarded a grant to the Trafford handball club to help them purchase new equipment and improve coaching. In the time since, the club has seen an increase in membership and interest from the local competitions. This has also translated to the court, with the club achieving both regional and national success.
The initiative has helped a variety of sports, with a grant to the Leeds Powerchair Football Club in 2021 helping the club to purchase new wheelchairs and get a qualified coach. This has once again translated into sporting success, with several of the club’s players receiving international call-ups.
Empowering Smaller Clubs
Flutter Entertainment believe the Cash4Clubs initiative helps to empower local communities and smaller clubs at a grassroots level. Ian Brown, the company’s Chief Executive, said that they want to help these clubs play a larger role in their local communities.
Brown said that he was delighted to have Clubs4Cash back up and running. He highlighted the fact that for every £1 invested in sports in communities, they return £6 to their communities in social value.
The program is launched alongside Sported, a company that has worked closely with Flutter in the past. Tom Burstow, the CEO of Sported, said that they believe we are at risk of cutting young people off from the benefits of sport and communities due to the growing financial challenges at a grassroots level. He added that this program will help ensure the money is put into communities and will benefit everybody.
Flutter Entertainment also took part in the #ClubsinCrisis program in 2022. This was also designed to aid clubs and communities that had been negatively impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. This was another huge success for the company, providing support to over 230,000 young people in the UK and Ireland and providing huge grants to help clubs focus on building strong communities, develop employability skills, and improve mental health.
