The Autumn Internationals continue this week with fixtures on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

After a dominant weekend for the southern hemisphere nations, Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales need wins in what, for the Irish aside, is their penultimate fixture of 2024.

  • ARGENTINA +11
  • SOUTH AFRICA TO WIN BY 6-10 POINTS
  • NEW ZEALAND TO WIN
  • AUSTRALIA -13

Ireland vs Argentina

There's more Friday night action in Dublin as Ireland look to recover from their 23-13 defeat to New Zealand against a confident Argentina side.

The Pumas beat the Kiwis during this summer's Rugby Championship and also defeated Australia and South Africa, marking the first time they had defeated all three of their southern hemisphere rivals in a single edition of the annual tournament.

They began their autumn with a fine 50-18 win in Italy, and their newfound exuberance with Tomas Albornoz at fly-half helps them move the ball around and do something different from their previous forward-focused game.

Pumas boss Felipe Contempomi was previously a hero in Dublin due to his playing exploits with Leinster, but emotion will go out of the window come kick-off and there is a local flavour to Andy Farrell's selection, with Leinster's Robbie Henshaw back in the centre in the only change.

Ireland lacked accuracy against the All Blacks but will have benefitted from an additional week together and can grab a victory, albeit Argentina, who have recalled vice-captain Pablo Matera following suspension, can keep it close.

ARGENTINA +11

England vs Springboks

England's ability to snatch defeat from the grasp of victory is becoming notable and their last-gasp 42-37 loss to Australia was the latest edition of them losing a match from a winning position, as Max Jorgensen went over with the clock red and Ben Donaldson added the extras to add to the misery.

The Red Rose have now lost five of their last six - time for a change of fortune? Potentially not, with double-world champions South Africa up next at Twickenham and reeling from a frustrating afternoon against Scotland, in which Rassie Erasmus and Siya Kolisi appeared downbeat despite winning 32-15.

That's the standard England needs to attain and is in contrast to the constant talk of taking positives from their defeats, especially with Steve Borthwick's side failing to score regular points in the final quarter, which is also coincidently when he starts making changes.

The talk coming out of the camp has been about taking the game to South Africa, but England's bench isn't as strong as the 'Bomb Squad', and the Springboks can add to the discontent around Twickenham.

SOUTH AFRICA TO WIN BY 6-10 POINTS

France vs All Blacks

The late game on Saturday is in Saint-Denis where New Zealand will look to continue their autumn winning run against France, who have beaten them on the last two occasions the pair have met at the Stade de France.

The All Blacks have hardly been vintage in their wins over Ireland and England, but their game management and clinical edge in attack has been hugely impressive and they will look to exploit a Les Bleus team that defeated Japan 52-12 last weekend.

That result will have boosted confidence in the French camp after the inevitable hangover in the Six Nations following their quarter-final exit at last year's World Cup and their mixed performances during the summer tour of Argentina.

They also have Antoine Dupont back after being absent so far this year due to his subsequently successful quest to lead France to Sevens glory at the Olympics. He was typically brilliant against Japan but some of his colleagues lack his steely edge and the Kiwis could triumph again.

NEW ZEALAND TO WIN

Wales vs Australia

Finally, to Sunday's game in Cardiff, where Wales host Australia aiming to avoid a record 11th straight defeat.

Warren Gatland's side went down 24-19 to Fiji despite the visitors having two players sent to the sin bin in the first half, including a 20-minute red card for Semi Radradra.

The Fijians were good, but only because Wales gave them space to play and lacked physicality - it could be the same issue against the Wallabies.

Joe Schmidt's team won both summer Tests between the pair but have improved since then, as demonstrated by their Twickenham display.

Wales have included Jac Morgan in their back row but with scrum-half Tomos Williams sidelined due to a shoulder injury, the tourists look set to have far too much for their hosts.

AUSTRALIA -13
