Betfred Pays Out On Man City Title Win

Man City Pay Out

Popular British bookmaker Betfred has announced that it is paying out early on bets for Manchester City to win the Premier League title.

Fred Done, the company’s co-founder, confirmed that it would be offering early cashouts to customers following this weekend’s results.

A Fourth Straight Title

There are still six games left of the Premier League season, but Manchester City, the division’s reigning champions, were handed a serious boost thanks to two huge upsets this weekend. First, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were stunned 1-0 by Crystal Palace, marking their first home league defeat at Anfield since October 2022, when they were defeated by Leeds.

Just two hours later, Arsenal lost 2-0 at home to Aston Villa thanks to goals from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins. These results now leave Man City, who defeated Luton Town 5-1 on Saturday, a two-point lead at the top of the table.

While a two-point lead may seem narrow, history has shown that Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City do not tend to let these kinds of leads slip so late in the campaign. Last season’s treble winners have turned on the style in recent weeks, scoring 13 in their last three league games and scoring three away at Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Winning the league will see them become the first team to ever win four consecutive Premier League titles, and they are also on course to record a historic back-to-back treble.

Past Failures

Fred Done has a history of offering early cashouts in the Premier League title race, with this being the ninth time he has done so. However, not all of his previous offers have worked out in his favour.

All the way back in 1998, he backed Manchester United to win the league and was punished when they threw away a 12-point lead to Arsenal.  It was the Red Devils who would cost him again in 2012, with the team bottling an eight-point lead to lose the title to Manchester City in what is perhaps the most iconic moment in Premier League history.

Despite this, Done is confident in his offer this season. He said that after watching the Liverpool and Arsenal games this weekend, he was convinced that the race was over, describing Jurgen Klopp’s team as looking as though they were ‘being beaten’.
