The DP World Tour returns to continental Europe after a week’s break for the US Open and Poland’s Adrian Meronk, who recently won the Italian Open but missed the cut at Los Angeles Country Club, is set to go off favourite for the BMW International Open in Munich.
China’s Haotong Li will defend the title he won 12 months ago, while Pablo Larrazabal returns to the scene of two of his DPWT triumphs.

Larrazabal Should Be Confident
The BMW International venue is not the same every year, but Pablo Larrazabal has demonstrated a real liking for the test provided by the GolfClub Munchen Eichenried over the years and it seems foolish to ignore his chances.
The Spaniard collected the trophy at the Bavaria venue in 2011 and 2015, but it is not just that distant course history that makes him of interest this week.
He was tied for fifth last year, five shots behind Li, and he has already tasted success at the Korea Championship and the KLM Open since the turn of the year.
The standard of the field probably does not match the ones he repelled in his two Munich triumphs and with some good recent form in the book, there seems little reason to doubt he can make it a BMW hat-trick.

Aaron Cockerill could be a force this weekend
Cockerill Looks Good At This Grade
Canada’s Aaron Cockerill has less pleasant memories of this track having failed to make the cut in his last two visits, and he will also be looking to reassert himself following the disappointment of missing the weekend at his home competition a fortnight ago.
However, he has produced enough solid play in the last couple of months to suggest he can be a force at this level.
His 13th at the Jonsson Workwear when he closed with a 65 in March proved to be a springboard and he put in a career-best performance in his next outing when he was beaten by Lucas Herbert in an ISPS Handa playoff.
Cockerill was tenth in his last DPWT showing at the Soudal Open when he closed with rounds of 66 and 67, so he should be confident he can be a force at this level.

LaCroix Close To Making His Mark
Frenchman Frederic LaCroix is another player worth keeping a close eye on this week.
He heads to Munich a few weeks after posting his best DP World Tour performance in claiming fifth spot at the Porsche European Open - and he proved that was no fluke by finishing tied for tenth at the Scandinavian Mixed in his last outing.
The calendar has been kind as he could build on those results with a fine week at a venue where he finished tenth 12 months ago.
