Champions League Betting Tips - Last 16 1st Leg, Tuesday

There is more Champions League action to come on Tuesday with two games pencilled in, as PSV Eindhoven host Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan take on Atletico Madrid.

PSV finished second to Arsenal in Group B to book their place in the knockout stages, while Dortmund finished top of Group F, which was labelled as this year's "Group of Death".

Inter were runners-up in Group D and they will now take on Group E winners Atletico, managed by former player Diego Simeone.

  • Inter Milan to win and Under 2.5 goals
  • PSV v Borussia Dortmund - Draw and both teams to score

Inter Milan vs Atletico Madrid

One of the ties of the last 16 sees Inter take on Atletico Madrid, and it is the Serie A outfit that has home advantage for the first leg.

Inter came agonisingly close to winning the Champions League last season, losing 1-0 to Manchester City in the final, and they are hoping to go one step further this time around.

Simone Inzaghi's side are enjoying another strong campaign, as they sit nine points clear at the top of Serie A and were only beaten to top spot in Group D by Real Sociedad on goal difference.

Inter, who recently won a third successive Supercoppa Italiana, defeated Salernitana 4-0 last Friday to extend their winning streak to eight matches and make it 10 games unbeaten in all competitions.

Atletico have not enjoyed the same recent success, losing two of their last three, though those defeats to Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla were both by 1-0 score lines and that shows they have been competitive at least.

However, away form has been a bigger concern for Atleti and they have won just three of their last 11 road fixtures,

Inter have kept seven clean sheets in their last nine at home, while they only conceded once across their three Champions League group games at the Giuseppe Meazza.

INTER MILAN TO WIN AND UNDER 2.5 GOALS

PSV Eindhoven vs Borussia Dortmund

Dutch giants PSV will look to lay down a marker on Tuesday night when they entertain Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.

After years out of the spotlight in Europe, PSV have a point to prove this season, as they look to make the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2006/07.

Peter Bosz's side won two and drew three of their group matches to progress into the next round, and having home advantage should be vital.

PSV won their first 17 Eredivisie games of the season, have triumphed in 20 of their 22 contests in the league and remain unbeaten in the Dutch top flight.

They are also unbeaten at home in all competitions this term and last tasted defeat at the Philips Stadion in November 2022.

Dortmund will be no pushovers though, especially when they are unbeaten in nine matches. Edin Terzic's side might be out of the title race in the Bundesliga, but their recent run shows they can be stubborn and difficult to break down.

While Dortmund have lost eight of their last nine away games in the Champions League knockout stages, they beat both Newcastle and Milan on their travels in the group this season and they will be tough to crack this week.
