England vs Bangladesh Betting Tips – Cricket World Cup

England, the defending champions, need to bounce back from their chastening nine-wicket defeat to New Zealand when they take on Bangladesh in their second group-stage game on Tuesday.

Jos Buttler's men wilted in the dry heat of Ahmedabad, but have now decamped to Dharamsala up north where temperatures will be around 10 degrees cooler.

This ground brings a different challenge as Buttler has described the sandy outfield as poor while urging his players to be careful to avoid injury when diving in the deep.

Ben Stokes is unlikely to play again due to a sore hip while Bangladesh could be unchanged following their six-wicket win over Afghanistan at the same ground on Saturday.

- Jonny Bairstow to be England's top batter

- Adil Rashid to be England's top bowler

- Bangladesh Opening Partnership Total - Over 19.5

Bairstow Better Chasing

England will consider bringing an extra seamer into their side, with Reece Topley the most likely candidate, but everything about their approach to this game suggests they will play it safe.

Keeping Stokes back is sensible, giving Moeen Ali another chance appears likely and electing to chase a target rather than set one themselves is the way Buttler would want this game to unfold if he wins the toss.

The England skipper elected to field first in four of the five games when he won the toss at last year's T20 World Cup in Australia.

Also, the team batting second has won five of the six previous ODIs on this ground, so there is good reason to believe England will prefer to bowl first.

They may not get the opportunity to chase if Bangladesh put them in, but there is little doubt which of England's openers would benefit from batting in the second innings of the match.

Jonny Bairstow's average goes up from 39.20 when batting first to 52.31 when in the second innings while Dawid Malan sees his average drop from 69.10 when setting a target to 46.13 when chasing one.

Bairstow gave his wicket away at Ahmedabad with a poor choice of shot once the spinner came on, but could find the smaller confines of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium to his liking.

Rashid Can Bamboozle Bangladesh

England's premier spinner was largely ineffective against the Black Caps last Thursday as Adil Rashid finished wicketless and conceded 47 runs off his seven overs.

The New Zealanders have rarely been troubled by the Yorkshireman in white-ball cricket, however, with the leg-spinner's average now up to 43.88 with a strike rate above 45 against them.

It is a totally different story for him against Bangladesh, against whom he has a career average of 16.95 and a strike rate of less than 20.

Rashid was unable to get much turn out of the Ahmedabad track, but the suggestion is that Tuesday's surface in Dharamsala could offer spin and bounce.

Tigers Have Trouble At The Top

The Tigers got a taste of the conditions in Dharamsala on Saturday when the pitch played unusually slow.

They chased down the target with more than 15 overs to spare after skittling Afghanistan for just 156, but were again unable to get a decent partnership together for the first wicket.

Tanzid Khan was run out for five at the start of the fifth over with the score then 19-1 and expectations are not high for the opening pair to get Bangladesh off to a good start on Tuesday.

The Tigers have had only two 50-run stands for the first wicket in their last eight ODIs, but their average opening partnership since the start of the Asia Cup in September is 21.25.

If England's opening bowlers take time to settle because of the questionable ground underfoot during their run-ups, the Tigers could hit the over on a very gettable opening partnership team total of 19.5.
