Turks Top Spoil The Party

There will be plenty of excitement back in Georgia for their national side making their first appearance at a European Championship on Tuesday.

Beating Greece on penalties to reach the major tournament for the very first time, Georgia have already exceeded expectations by even making it into Euro 2024.

First up they face a Turkey side who impressed on their way to qualifying for this major tournament and know what it takes to compete in this competition.

Beating the likes of Croatia, Wales, Latvia and Armenia in their qualifying group, this Turkish side will fancy their chances of reaching at least the round of 16 at this competition.

Georgia have scored in eight of their last nine games so they can be expected to find the back of the net in this game.

However, Turkey have the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu, Baris Alper Yilmaz and Kenan Yildiz who can all pop up with goals at this level.

Inter Milan star Calhanoglu in particular enjoyed an excellent campaign in Serie A, scoring 13 league goals and helping the Nerazzurri claim Lo Scudetto last season.

Turkey have the quality to hit the ground running with three points in Dortmund but Georgia should make them work for the spoils at Signal Iduna Park.

Fernandes Can Help Sink Czechs

While there will be plenty of focus on Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo, as he prepares for what looks to be one last crack at a second European Championship title, Bruno Fernandes is also likely to be a goalscoring threat against the Czech Republic on Tuesday.

The Manchester United midfielder was the second-highest goalscorer for Portugal in qualifying for this summer’s major tournament and he’s good value to add to his 22 international goals for his country in this one.

Fernandes is a player who likes to ghost in from midfield and can be incredibly hard to pick up in and around the penalty area.

The 29-year-old scored six goals during qualifying for Euro 2024, with only former United, Real Madrid and Juventus star Ronaldo scoring more with 10.

Fernandes managed to bag himself a brace against Finland in the pre-tournament friendly earlier this month, which indicates he comes into this competition with confidence in front of goal.

The Czech Republic have so many players with the likes of Ronaldo, Diogo Jota, Rafael Leao, Joao Felix and Goncalo Ramos to potentially mark, Fernandes can take advantage to ghost in for another international goal at a major tournament.
