Fiorentina vs Venezia
Fiorentina drew 1-1 at Parma in their opening Serie A assignment but the way they grew into the game and dominated late on was promising. Defensively there are still issues for la VIola, who entered into the campaign with both teams scoring in five consecutive friendlies.
The hosts have seen both teams score in their last seven Serie A matches, too, and they host a Venezia side that lost 3-1 at Lazio in their curtain-raiser.
That defeat came after a setback by the same scoreline at Brescia in the Coppa Italia, so Fiorentina should make short work of the visitors.
However, Venezia have shown some scoring threat so back la Viola’s high-scoring streak to continue.

AVS vs Vitoria Guimaraes
The fixture list has been kind to Vitoria Guimaraes so far this term and that could see them continue a perfect start. They took their current winning streak to seven matches with a 3-0 hammering of Zrinjski in midweek, putting them in command of their final Conference League qualifier.
Guimaraes played that game on Wednesday rather than the usual Thursday scheduling, offering them more time to prepare. Their second leg is on Thursday next week, so they have plenty of space on either side of this visit to newly-promoted AVS.
Guimaraes have yet to concede a goal in their winning run, while they’ve shown plenty of scoring threat of their own. With AVS outclassed in a 4-2 defeat to Gil Vicente last weekend, take the visitors to continue a brilliant start to the new campaign.
VITORIA GUIMARAES TO BEAT AVS
Atletico Madrid vs Girona
Atletico Madrid fought back twice to claim a 2-2 draw at Villarreal on Monday night, but they should return to winning ways at home this weekend. Atleti have new signing Conor Gallagher ready to feature and Julian Alvarez is another who could make his first start.
It’s a very different story for Girona, who lost key players from last season’s surprise third-place finish. They drew 1-1 at Real Betis in their opener but they trailed for the majority of the game.
Atletico have strengthened in attack and defence and they should ultimately prove too good for Girona. The visitors lost three of their final four pre-season matches and it’s tough to see them matching last season’s standards.
Atletico have won 25 of their last 28 home games in La Liga, so back them to extend that good run with a victory against Girona.
