The first round of the oldest cup competition in the world takes place this weekend, and the remaining non-league teams will be hoping to produce an upset and earn some much-needed cash by reaching the second round, while League One and Two clubs will be desperate to avoid the embarrassment of a defeat to a club further down the pyramid.

Charlton win to nil v Cray Valley Paper Mills

High-Scoring Affair At Bromley

Bromley are going well in the National League, currently sitting in third, and they can give League One side Blackpool problems when they meet in Saturday’s 5.45 kick-off.

The hosts have reached this stage in six of the last seven seasons but have never progressed beyond the first round so will be desperate to achieve a personal best.

Three of Bromley’s last five matches have resulted in more than 3.5 goals and another high-scoring affair looks likely.

Five of Blackpool’s last seven games have seen at least four goals and this tie should prove a high-scoring affair.

Spireites Could Cause Shock

Chesterfield have plenty of history in the FA Cup, reaching the semi-finals in 1997, and they will be hoping to write a new chapter in their giantkilling history when they host Portsmouth in Sunday’s 12.15 kick-off.

The Spireites are flying high in the National League and look an EFL team in waiting.

The home side have lost just once all season and even though Portsmouth are also impressing in League One, Chesterfield could cause an upset.

Take the stalemate out of the equation and side with the hosts in the draw no bet market.

Addicks Should Win Derby

Cray Valley Paper Mills have been one of the stories of this season’s FA Cup, the eighth tier side earning a first-round derby against Charlton Athletic in Sunday’s 5.30pm kick-off.

Kevin Lisbie will be keeping a keen eye on proceedings as the striker played for both sides and his son Kyrell turns out for Cray Valley.

However, the Isthmian League South East Division side face a tough task and

Charlton should be able to expose the class gulf between the two teams and are fancied to win to nil.
