FA Cup Quarter Final Betting Tips

A trip to Wembley beckons for the eight FA Cup quarter-finalists set to do battle over the weekend, with holders Manchester City back at the Etihad Stadium to take on Newcastle United on Saturday.

Erling Haaland scored five of City's six goals at Luton in the last round, while the Magpies needed penalties to overcome Championship side Blackburn in a much more awkward tie.

Wolverhampton Wanderers can reach the semi-finals for the first time since 2019 if they overcome Championship promotion-chasers Coventry, who have not made it beyond this stage since their famous trophy-winning campaign of 1986-87.

And, in Sunday's games, Leicester go to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in a repeat of the 2021 final, while 12-time winners Manchester United face a formidable Liverpool team looking to add more silverware after taking the League Cup last month.

  • Under 2.5 goals in Wolves vs Coventry
  • Manchester City win to nil vs Newcastle
  • Chelsea to win and over 3.5 goals
  • Liverpool to win vs Man Utd

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Coventry

The first of the four quarter-finals could be the most tension-filled as both Wolves and Coventry attempt to make it to Wembley.

The Sky Blues have benefitted from a favourable draw that has seen them paired with Oxford, Sheffield Wednesday and non-league Maidstone United.

This is a major step up in class for Mark Robins' side and it would be no surprise to see them go to Molineux with a gameplan based around keeping it tight and frustrating their hosts.

Gary O'Neil's side can run out of ideas against well-organised teams and will be without joint top scorer Hwang Hee-Chan and Pedro Neto again, although Matheus Cunha has not been ruled out.

But, having beaten West Brom 2-0 in round four and edged past Brighton 1-0 to reach the quarter-finals, it seems unlikely Wolves will open the game up either.

UNDER 2.5 GOALS

Manchester City vs Newcastle

If City win the treble again this season the team that will have stopped them going one better and winning the quadruple will be Newcastle, who knocked Pep Guardiola's side out of the League Cup in September.

The Magpies' 1-0 home victory came amid an eight-game unbeaten run and was preceded by an 8-0 thrashing of Sheffield United, but Eddie Howe's side are not in that kind of form anymore.

They are also crippled by injuries to key players like Anthony Gordon, who hobbled off during their 3-2 league defeat at Chelsea on Monday, Nick Pope and Joelinton.

City will also be without their first-choice goalkeeper Ederson, but back-up Stefan Ortega has performed remarkably well in this competition - keeping seven clean sheets in his last nine FA Cup appearances.

Guardiola's side were given a good going over by Liverpool at Anfield last weekend in a 1-1 draw,, but their home results are as good as anyone's right now with 15 victories and four draws from their 19 Etihad Stadium outings this term.

City's bread and butter wins over these past few seasons have been accompanied by clean sheets and another seems possible here.

They have shut out four of their last eight home opponents and, but for a Marcus Rashford thunderbolt and a stoppage-time Burnley goal, it could easily have been six.

MANCHESTER CITY TO WIN TO NIL

Chelsea vs Leicester

Chelsea have started to find their flow just as the Foxes have fallen out of form and it should result in cup progression for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

The Blues have won nine, drawn three and lost only one of their last 13 games at Stamford Bridge, which suggests they can be trusted to get the job done at home.

Meanwhile, Leicester slipped up at Leeds last month and dropped points at Hull recently while recent home defeats to Middlesbrough and Queens Park Rangers have seen their lead at the Championship summit shaved to just three points.

Enzo Maresca's side have been conceding too many goals and it seems likely that this game will feature a few given Chelsea's last two home games have both finished 3-2 in their favour.

The hosts have scored at least three goals in four of their last seven home games and may be able to take the match tally above 2.5 on their own this weekend.

But Leicester still possess enough of an attacking threat to suggest they will breach a Blues defence that has been less than watertight of late - indicating over 3.5 match goals is within reach.

CHELSEA TO WIN AND OVDER 3.5 GOALS

Manchester United vs Liverpool

A crackerjack of a tie to finish off FA Cup weekend takes place at Old Trafford as North West rivals Manchester United entertain Liverpool.

The Red Devils frustrated Jurgen Klopp's men at Anfield this season in a 0-0 draw, but Erik ten Hag will not set his team up to play a similar way at home.

And that could favour Liverpool, who have beaten United on two of their last three visits to the Theatre of Dreams.

Both clubs will be without key players through injury, but Liverpool's squad depth has enabled them to enter the spring with realistic prospects of winning four trophies.

Meanwhile, this is United's last chance to salvage silverware from a season that has seen them take a retrograde step under Ten Hag and the pressure could be too much for some of their young players to handle.
