Manchester City host Liverpool in a top-level Premier League contest on Saturday and it could be a fantastically entertaining clash.
City were involved in an incredible 4-4 draw with Chelsea prior the international break and Liverpool hammered Brentford 3-0.
Saturday’s clash gets underway at (12:30) and it should be a thrilling start to the weekend’s Premier League action.
- Liverpool to win & both teams to score
- Over 4.5 goals
Reds Can Edge High-Scoring Contest
Man City won the treble last season and they are a fantastic side, but the Citizens have looked vulnerable this season. Pep Guardiola's side were beaten 1-0 at Arsenal, they lost 1-0 at Newcastle and they were turned over 2-1 by Wolves.
All of those losses have come on City’s travels, but there have been clear signs of vulnerability this season.
Guardiola lost Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez in the summer, while Kevin De Bruyne remains sidelined through injury and perhaps that has caused the drop in City’s form.
The Manchester side were involved in a pulsating 4-4 draw with Chelsea prior to the international break and, while that was a fantastic tussle, the fact that City were second best in that contest was rather lost in the excitement of the game.
The Citizens did crush Bournemouth 6-1 at home and Fulham shipped five at the Etihad and, although City may not quite be at their peak, Guardola’s side are clearly capable of top-level performances.
Liverpool have an extremely dangerous attacking unit, but the Reds squad lacks a little balance.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have already scored 27 Premier League goals this season and they have hit 16 in their last six all competition matches.
The Reds have closed the gap on City to just a point at the top of the Premier League table and Liverpool look value to move past their title rivals on Saturday.
LIVERPOOL TO WIN AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
Etihad Could Go Goal Crazy
City have netted 32 Premier League goals this season and the Citizens have seen 21 goals scored across their last four matches.
For all of the attacking talent of Guardiola’s side, they have only kept two clean sheets in their last ten top-flight matches and Liverpool have a similar profile.
The Reds have scored 27 top-flight goals this term, but they have kept only four Premier League clean sheets.
There are clear midfield and defensive vulnerabilities in the Reds side and the net has been hit 22 times in the Merseyside outfit’s last eight games.
This game could easily end 3-2, 3-3 or even 4-4 and backing over 4.5 goals looks the bet.
