Tottenham’s strong start to the season has taken a major downturn as they have lost three games in a row and now face a tough test as they visit Manchester City on Sunday.
The Citizens have won 23 of their last 24 home games but will be looking to bounce back themselves after being held to back-to-back draws in the league.
- Manchester City to win and both teams to score
- Heung-min Son to score at any time
- Pedro Porro to be shown a card
Citizens To Win Entertaining Affair
Tottenham have had Manchester City’s number in recent years, winning five of the last seven Premier League meetings between the two sides.
Injury issues mean that they are unlikely to extend that record however, with Ange Postecoglou’s men severely hamstrung by absentees.
James Maddison, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero remain sidelined for this matchup, while Rodrigo Bentancur’s comeback from injury against Aston Villa saw him limp off again last week.
Yves Bissouma makes a welcome return from suspension but the visitors are down to their squad players in a number of positions.
Spurs have lost three in a row as a result and this is as hard a game as any in which to launch a turnaround.
Manchester City have won 23 of their last 24 matches at home and have avoided defeat in 27 of their last 30 Premier League games.
A 4-4 draw against Chelsea was followed by a 1-1 stalemate with title rivals Liverpool however and the hosts are looking to avoid going three league matches without a victory for the first time since 2017.
Given the injury issues for the visitors and the Citizens rock-solid run at home it is hard not to fancy them to pick up all three points.
Nine of Spurs’ last 11 games have seen both teams find the net though and Postecoglou’s attacking beliefs look unlikely to be compromised.
The Citizens have also conceded seven times in their last three matches so side with Tottenham getting on the scoresheet, albeit in defeat.
MAN CITY T WIN AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
Son To Find The Net
Heung-min Son seems to have relished his move inside to become Tottenham’s central striker this season, having scored eight times in 13 league games.
The South Korean also has a solid record against Manchester City too, scoring seven times in 17 appearances against the Citizens.
Take him to extend that tally with a goal in this clash.
Porro Could Fall Foul Of The Referee
Pedro Porro has been impressive this season but could fall foul of the referee in this matchup.
The Spaniard has flourished as an inverted full-back this term but will be asked to do much more defending than usual in this game.
He may have picked up only one yellow card so far this season but that came against fellow big hitters Liverpool, and City are likely to line up one of the tricky duo of Jeremy Doku or Jack Grealish against him.
