Newcastle were beaten by Manchester City last weekend and face another tough test as they host Liverpool on Sunday after pipping the Reds to the final Champions League spot last season.
- Draw
- Alexander Isak to score at any time
- Mohamed Salah to score at any time
Rivals May Not Be Separated
Liverpool struggled on the road last season, taking 23 points on their travels compared to 44 at Anfield.
One of their best away results was a 2-0 win at St James’ Park and they are hoping to repeat the trick when they visit Newcastle in Sunday’s Premier League clash.
Jurgen Klopp’s side opened the new campaign with a 2-2 draw at Chelsea before beating Bournemouth 3-1 at home last weekend.
Alexis Mac Allister was sent off in that matchup but had his red card overturned and is available.
Newcastle got off to the best possible start with a 5-1 win over Aston Villa but came back down to earth with a bump last weekend after they were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City.
However, defensive solidity and home form have been their major strengths since their Saudi takeover in 2021 and those factors should help them in this clash.
No top-flight team drew more games than Newcastle’s 14 last season and another could be on the cards against the Reds.
The Magpies have not won any of their last 13 games against Liverpool so it’s hard to fancy them for the win, but they should take a point on home soil.
Their loss to Liverpool at home last season was one of only two on Tyneside in the league and they can take a point from this, which would not be a bad result for either team.
Isak To Find The Net
Alexander Isak has established himself as Newcastle’s top striker this season and could get on the scoresheet here.
The Swede netted twice in their 5-1 win over Aston Villa and Eddie Howe seems to have full faith in the former Real Sociedad forward, so take Isak to get on the scoresheet.
Salah To Star
Mo Salah has been linked with a move away from Liverpool this week but he should put that behind him and find the net.
The Egyptian has scored six goals against Newcastle and has already netted against Bournemouth, so he may well repeat the trick.
