Another busy Saturday afternoon of Premier League action beckons, with five games in the traditional 3pm slot set to be followed by a teatime tussle at Molineux as Wolves host Liverpool.

Newcastle host the champions Man City in a key Premier League battle on Saturday (12.30).

The Magpies will be hoping to get back to winning ways after defeat to Fulham last time out, while Man City travel to St James’ Park following a midweek EFL Cup win against Watford.

Champions Can Show Their Class

Man City were held to a 2-2 draw by Arsenal in their last Premier League game in an intense and thrilling contest.

The Citizens had previously been comfortable winners over Chelsea, Ipswich, West Ham and Brentford in their opening four top-flight games and Pep Guardiola’s side look good value to regain the winning thread.

Of course, City may have been a little fortunate to grab a last-gasp equaliser against Arsenal, but the Gunners are a top-level side and Newcastle have looked anything but this season.

The Magpies were crushed 3-1 at Fulham last weekend and single-goal victories over Southampton, Tottenham and Wolves were unconvincing.

Eddie Howe’s side have enjoyed a clear week of preparation for the tie with City, after the Toon Army’s EFL Cup clash with Wimbledon was called off, but City rested the bulk of their squad against Watford in midweek.

Newcastle have won only six of their last 12 home league matches, keeping just three clean sheets in that run, and Howe’s men could be hit hard by the champions.

MAN CITY TO WIN & OVER 2.5 GOALS

Goals Could Flow At St James’ Park

There have been 45 goals in Newcastle’s last 12 St James’ Park contests and seven of those matches have bust the 3.5 goal line.

Man City have started the campaign by putting three goals past West Ham and four past Ipswich and the Citizens were 3-2 winners the last time they visited Newcastle.

Backing over 3.5 goals looks a solid play in what should be an open encounter.

OVER 3.5 GOALS

Gundogan Can Fill The Void

Rodri is certainly out of the trip to Newcastle and fellow midfielder Kevin de Bruyne is a major doubt for City.

Those are key absentees, but Ilkay Gundogan can fill the void. The German midfielder had made just two top-flight starts since he returned to the club but had a number of good opportunities against Arsenal on Sunday, including when he struck the post.

He hit two shots against the Gunners, which followed two shots in his only other Premier League start against Brentford, and he may be handed a more forward-thinking role in De Bruyne’s absence.

Gundogan is likely to find himself arriving in the box at the end of Man City’s attacks and looks a good bet to find the net.
