The NFL season is approaching the half-way point and there are no byes in Week 8, so there is a 16-game slate to choose from for our accumulator
This week’s five-strong acca features some of the week’s biggest matchups, including the clash of the two New York teams and an exciting battle between the Cincinnati Bengals and San Francisco 49ers.
Recommended five-fold: Jets -3, Eagles -6.5, Over 42 points in Jaguars @ Steelers Bengals +5.5, Lions -8
- New York Jets -3 @ New York Giants
- Philadelphia Eagles -6.5 @ Washington Commanders
- Over 42 points in Jacksonville Jaguars @ Pittsburgh Steelers
- Cincinnati Bengals +5.5 @ San Francisco 49ers
- Detroit Lions -8 vs Las Vegas Raiders
Jets @ Giants
The New York Jets face the unusual situation of being the road team in their home stadium this weekend as they face their city rivals the Giants on the back of a bye week.
An injury to Aaron Rodgers in the first game of the season means that Zach Wilson has been the Jets’ quarterback this season and after some poor performances early on, the backup has started to put it together.
With a strong defence with plenty of strength in depth, the Jets have looked closer to a play-off team recently.
Sauce Gardner, Quinnen and Quincy Williams have been among the standouts and they have allowed Wilson to stay in games and make plays.
They should be able to contain a Giants’ offence that has hardly been electric, scoring no more than 16 points in any of their last five games.
The Jets’ defence and the running game of Breece Hall should be enough to see them continue their run of covering the spread in their last three games.

Wilson starting to pull the strings
Eagles @ Commanders
The Philadelphia Eagles are 6-1 and it’s not hard to see the case for them getting the better of the Washington Commanders in this matchup.
The Eagles have the best run defence in the league and the Commanders have been poor with their passing game recently, they managed just seven points against the Giants last weekend.
Washington quarterback Sam Howell has been sacked 40 times, 12 more than any other QB and has thrown seven interceptions, the third-most in the NFL.
Expect Howell to be in trouble from the get go and have a difficult afternoon against this solid Eagles’ defence.
Jalen Hurts may not even have to be at his best to help his team cover the spread in this clash, but expect him to link up with AJ Brown consistently, as he did last week against the Dolphins when Brown had 137 yards receiving.
Jaguars @ Steelers
The Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers meet in what should be an intriguing clash in the AFC.
A high-scoring affair looks likely with Jacksonville impressing recently, they put 31 points on a solid New Orleans Saints defence last time out.
Trevor Lawrence looks to have recaptured much of his old form and can thrive against a Steelers’ defence that has allowed the 30th-most yards of any team in the NFL.
With the Jaguars expected to rack up the score, the Steelers can also contribute to a high-scoring matchup.
Pittsburgh just scored 24 points on the road against a very solid Los Angeles Rams’ defence and they can do some damage in this game.
The Jaguars' last three games have averaged 52.3 total points and their run of exciting matchups looks set to continue here.

High-scoring affair expected
Bengals @ 49ers
After starting 5-0, the San Francisco 49ers come off the back of two defeats in a row into this matchup, where they face a Cincinnati Bengals team who have had a bye week to give Joe Burrow’s calf time to heal.
Cincinnati have won two in a row and their offence finally looked like it was clicking after a disappointing start to the season.
Ja’Marr Chase had six receptions for 80 yards in their win over the Seattle Seahawks and getting him the ball as much as possible is key to this Bengals team.
San Francisco’s Brock Purdy threw two interceptions in their loss against the Minnesota Vikings last time out and he will need to improve in this clash.
The Bengals are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games as an underdog and they could be playing this 49ers team at the perfect time.
Take Cincinnati to keep this close and put further dents in what had been a perfect start to the season for San Francisco.
Raiders @ Lions
The Detroit Lions will feature on Monday Night Football for the first time at home in over five years, so expect a rowdy reception when they host the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders put in a dismal performance on the road last time out, losing 30-12 to the Chicago Bears, giving up three turnovers in the process.
Las Vegas has given the ball away the most this season of any team, 15 times and has also turned the ball over themselves the fewest times, just five.
That has put plenty of unnecessary pressure on their defence and in front of a raucous Lions crowd that is the last thing that they want to do.
Detroit have won six of their last eight at home while Las Vegas have lost five of their last six on the road, a recipe for disaster for the Raiders.
The Lions are also 4-1 against the spread in their last five games as a favourite and have covered the spread in seven of their last eight games on home soil.
Expect the Lions to rack up an impressive win in front of the Monday Night Football cameras and extend what has already been a very solid start to the season for Detroit.
