The 2023 NFL campaign has now reached Week 14 and only the Arizona Cardinals and Washington Commanders will not feature on this slate as they have their bye week.
Our Sunday evening fivefold features games from Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, New Orleans and New York.
- Atlanta Falcons to beat Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Detroit Lions to beat Chicago Bears
- Cleveland Browns to beat Jacksonville Jaguars
- New Orleans Saints to beat Carolina Panthers
- Houston Texans -5.5 against New York Jets
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons will look to keep the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at arm's length when they meet at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Atlanta lead the way in the NFC South, but they are only one win ahead of the Bucs going into the business end of the season.
Both were victorious last weekend, but Todd Bowles' team only beat the Carolina Panthers, the worst team in the NFL, by three points.
The Falcons should be able to improve their home record. Arthur Smith's team have won four of their six matches at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and their resolute defence should help them grind out a victory.
Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears
These two met in November, with the Lions just doing enough to avoid a shock defeat at Ford Field. Dan Campbell's team ran out 31-26 winners during the first meeting and should have learned some valuable lessons.
They were humbled a week later on Thanksgiving, losing 29-22 to the Green Bay Packers, but their 33-28 success over the New Orleans Saints last week suggested they still have plenty of fight left in them.
The Detroit rushing attack has looked strong of late and they should be able to punish the Bears on the ground in another pulsating contest.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Cleveland Browns
Jacksonville were stunned by the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night, losing 34-31 in overtime. Their quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, suffered a high ankle sprain in that game and he is an injury doubt ahead of their trip to Cleveland.
The Jags are 5-0 on the road this season, but without Lawrence, they will struggle, and even if he is passed fit, he will not be 100 per cent, and he will come up against one of the best defences in football.
Cleveland have lost two in a row, but the injury doubts over Lawrence should help their cause this weekend. Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco rolled back the years on his first start for the Browns last week and if he can produce a similar display, then the Browns should be able to find a way past a resolute Jaguars outfit.
Carolina Panthers @ New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints are another team to have a quarterback injury to contend with after Derek Carr suffered another early night last week.
Carr has a rib injury and is also in concussion protocol, meaning he is highly likely to miss the clash at home to the Panthers.
New Orleans have lost three in a row, but Sunday's game comes against a Panthers side that are 1-10, and 0-7 away from home.
Jameis Winston is in line to start for the Saints, who should do most of their damage through running back Alvin Kamara, who missed the first game between these two teams.
Kamara scored two touchdowns in the recent defeat to Detroit and he is expected to carry the load for his team once again.
Houston Texans @ New York Jets
A few weeks ago, this matchup could have been a potential playoff decider, but the New York Jets have very little to look forward to as they prepare to host the Houston Texans.
The Jets have lost five games in a row, meaning they are 4-8 for the season and now have less than a one per cent chance of reaching the playoffs.
Sunday's game also takes place at the MetLife Stadium, where the Jets have lost five of their seven matches under coach Robert Saleh.
Houston's away form is patchy, carrying a 2-3 record, but they face a team that have only scored 171 points this season, the third-worst in the NFL.
They have also scored the fewest touchdowns, averaging 1.1 per match, a dismal stat in the modern era.
On the other side of the ball, the Texans have been a joy to watch thanks to rookie QB C.J. Stroud and he has helped his team move into playoff contention.
He will be without wide receiver Tank Dell for the rest of the season due to a serious ankle injury, but the Jets are now looking forward to 2024. Their defence is still one of the best in the league, but they offer little on offence.
Reports this week suggest they are struggling to find a quarterback to play for them due to their predicament, and they will do well to score more than 10 points against the Texans.
