- Fulham to beat Brentford

- Man Utd to beat Tottenham

Wolves vs Brighton

Wolves have been widely tipped for a season of struggle - but they performed with credit in a 1-0 opening defeat at Manchester United on Monday and can pick up their first point of the campaign with a draw at home to Brighton.

The pre-season negativity surrounding Wolves was understandable given they had struggled to do business in the transfer window and parted company with head coach Julen Lopetegui just five days before their trip to Old Trafford.

But there were plenty of positives to take from the performance against United which could, and probably should, have yielded at least a point.

Wolves were a constant threat on the counter-attack and racked up 23 shots, although they showed a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal.

Nonetheless the performance was something to build on for Gary O'Neil, who will be anxious for something tangible from the visit of Brighton.

The Seagulls are looking forward to their first European campaign but they remain determined to keep on progressing in the Premier League and made a strong start with a 4-1 victory at home to Luton.

Smart recruitment has been a key part of the Seagulls’ development but it remains to be seen how they will cope without Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo, who were such key elements of their success last term.

Brighton will probably look to spend some more of the Mac Allister and Caicedo cash before the transfer window shuts but they may suffer a short-term dip in performance and could have to be content with a single point at Molineux.

THE DRAW

Liverpool vs Bournemouth

Jurgen Klopp looked reasonably content after Liverpool's 1-1 draw at Chelsea and he should get to celebrate a first win of the season when the Reds take on Bournemouth at Anfield.

It was a shade under 12 months ago that Liverpool demolished the Cherries 9-0, equalling the biggest Premier League margin of victory.

Bournemouth were swift to react, dismissing head coach Scott Parker just three days later, and they can be delighted by how they have recovered.

Parker's replacement, Gary O'Neil, steadied the ship superbly and achieved the club’s number one aim by steering them to top-flight safety.

O'Neil's departure this summer came as quite a surprise but Bournemouth are determined to keep moving forward and are hoping for Andoni Iraola can continue O'Neil's good work by establishing them as a solid top-flight side.

Iraola was happy enough to start with a 1-1 draw at home to West Ham, although his team were slow to get going in both halves and that will be a worry as they prepare for one of their toughest away trips of the season.

Liverpool love to get on the front foot from the first whistle and it would not be a great surprise to see them forge ahead in the early stages.

However, a few of Liverpool's players looked short of match sharpness against Chelsea and, at this early stage of the season, Klopp will be far more concerned with points accrued than thrilling the masses.

A routine home win looks a probable outcome but Bournemouth should avoid a hammering and can demonstrate some of the progress made since their infamous trip to Anfield last term.

LIVERPOOL TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS

Fulham vs Brentford

Fulham had to ride their luck to win 1-0 at Everton last Saturday but they were delighted with three points and can back up the result by defeating Brentford at Craven Cottage.

The summer transfer window is creating problems for the Cottagers, who have received unwanted interest in key duo Aleksandar Mitrovic and Willian.

However, Fulham did some positive business last weekend, signing Adama Traore from Wolves, and they look equipped to give Brentford a tough game.

Fulham had a decent home record last season, taking 30 points from a possible 57, and they are likely to fancy their chances against the Bees, who opened up with a 2-2 draw at home to Tottenham.

Brentford played a cautious game against Spurs, sitting deep and waiting for moments to counter-attack.

It worked to an extent, although it was abundantly clear that they missed the physical presence and leadership of centre-forward Ivan Toney, who is suspended until January.

Toney was Brentford's top scorer last season with 20 goals.

The Bees coped well enough without the 27-year-old towards the end of last season but the next four months will be a lot tougher unless they can source a high calibre replacement in what remains of the transfer window.

Thomas Frank's answer to the Toney conundrum is to play with a lower block and rely on pacy front men Bryan Mbeumo and Yoann Wissa to do the damage.

However, Brentford’s backline had to defend for long periods against Spurs and they may crack against the Cottagers.

FULHAM TO WIN

Tottenham vs Manchester Utd

Manchester United laboured to an unconvincing 1-0 victory at home to Wolves on Monday night but they are capable of playing a lot better and can find the necessary improvement to defeat Tottenham in north London.

Erik ten Hag made a few questionable selections on Monday, including the decision to start Mason Mount over Christian Eriksen.

United forged ahead within ten minutes of Eriksen's introduction for Mount and it would be no great surprise to see the classy Dane play a more prominent role against his former club.

The Red Devils have got a few problems at the top end of the pitch with Rasmus Hojlund struggling with injury and Anthony Martial short of match fitness.

But it might suit them to come up against a Spurs side certain to play on the front foot.

Ange Postecoglou's attacking style was evident as the north London side bossed possession and territory in last Sunday's 2-2 draw at Brentford.

But Spurs sorely missed Harry Kane in the centre-forward position and looked vulnerable at the back on the rare occasions when Brentford pushed forward.

The Lilywhites will probably be forced to do a lot more defending against United and their suspect backline may let them down.

MANCHESTER UNITED TO WIN
