Wells Fargo Championship Betting Tips

The PGA Tour stops off at Quail Hollow Club, North Carolina this week for the Wells Fargo Championship, the sixth signature event of the season and the penultimate tournament before the PGA Championship.

This will be the 21st edition and the 19th time it has been staged at Quail Hollow, with Eagle Point hosting in 2017 and TPC Potomac stepping in two years ago.

Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy, fresh from his victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside Shane Lowry, is aiming to lift the trophy for a record-extending fourth time.

World number one Scottie Scheffler and Swedish star Ludvig Aberg will not be in attendance, leaving a field of 69 to battle it out.

Clark Set For Successful Defence

Wyndham Clark broke his PGA Tour duck at last year's event, cruising to a four-stroke victory, and he has gone on to triumph on two more occasions, at the 2023 US Open and the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

The American, ranked a career-high third in the world heading into this tournament, has taken his game to the next level and he looks to have every chance of becoming just the third multiple winner of the Wells Fargo Championship.

A strong driver and a hot putter have been important areas to success in this event, so it bodes well that Clark is sixth in both driving distance and putting average and also ninth in strokes gained: putting.

The 30-year-old was tied-third on his last appearance at the RBC Heritage, his third top-five finish from the last five outings, and he should be in the mix again.

Bhatia To Make Strong Challenge

When Akshay Bhatia arrived at the Wells Fargo last year he hadn't managed to break his PGA Tour duck, but it's all change heading into the 2024 edition as he is now a two-time winner on the US circuit.

The American won the 2023 Barracuda Championship before clinching the Texas Open last month and he has the potential to be a real danger this week, especially as he resides just a couple hours away from Quail Hollow at Wake Forest.

Bhatia's tee-to-green game has always been his strength, but improvement with the putter has really elevated his standing in the sport and the biggest prize of his career to date could be coming his way.

Tway To Continue Positive Form

Kevin Tway's name is unlikely to be on the lips of many going into Thursday's opening round but he arrives in solid form and is worth a look in the top-20 finish market.

The 35-year-old American, son of eight-time PGA Tour winner Bob Tway, was third at the Corales Puntacana Championship before taking a share of ninth at the CJ Cup last time out.

Tway gives it a good hit off the tee, averaging around 310 yards in driving distance from 2020-2023, and he has always been a dab hand with the flat stick.
